Motivation Letter for ICF Switzerland Board Membership 2017-2019

Dear Coach Colleagues and ICF Members,
I have decided to present my candidature to a board position and this note kindly asks for your vote.
The International Coaching Federation has been known to me for the last ten years. Initially looking for
best in class corporate support, then becoming a source of inspiration (chapter sessions), later as a
credible certification provider…the dynamism and its growth over this period have been remarkable.
ICF Switzerland have been facing a particularly challenging environment: economic uncertainties,
corporate learning & development budget constrains (not helped by a stronger currency) and multiple
players from side disciplines also claiming coaching practices and benefits. The work from different
chapters in mobilizing resources and creating awareness through events and partnerships was essential.
What I believe could bring to the board is a pragmatic approach to ICFS future development. I base such
on my economics background, the fact I grew professionally in a culture of doing more with less and my
current work coaching entrepreneurs/lean startups. Stick to what can we do, why, where and when.
In particular, the Probono initiative is an area I would like to re-launch from my board position. I am
impressed by previous attempts and always believe a great opportunity to leverage our scale, give back
to society and make a difference. I count leveraging (with the help of ICFS engaged members) our project
management skills, network and executional drive. I am also aware how particular is ‘voluntary’ work
given the years I spent managing sponsorship and commercial initiatives in the Alpine Club (CAS–SAC).
Together we could bring coaching in Switzerland to the next level. I have seen it succeeding in other
countries and disciplines (i.e. Accounting Certifications) and given we, coaches, are in the business of
maximizing potential… why do not give it our best shot?
