ION SURFACE MOUNT SERIES LIGHT HEADS
IMPORTANT:
When fitting the light head, the gasket must be fitted in the correct orientation. The mounting holes
must be higher than the cable entry hole as illustrated below. The vent channel in the gasket is for the
vent membrane* (a small fabric like disc) on the rear of the lamp and must be properly positioned over
it. DO NOT damage or remove the vent membrane.

Ensure the gasket supplied is used and the light head is mounted in the correct orientation with the
Whelen logo at the bottom (see below).

*The small fabric disk is of a 'Gore-Tex' type material which allows water and condensation to exit the
lamp but not enter. It must therefore be aligned with the vent channel in the rubber mounting gasket
which allows venting to atmosphere via the cable entry hole. When mounting the light head DO NOT
apply sealant to the area around the cable entry hole as this will seal the vent channel and prevent
venting to atmosphere. If properly fitted the light head will not require additional sealing and will
provide years of quality service.
