BUNGENDORE JUNIOR RUGBY LEAGUE
FOOTBALL CLUB
NEWSLETTER
June 4 2012
Hi all
A shortened version of the newsletter this week given that next weekend
is a long football-free weekend (Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth). Please
check with your coaches regarding training this week. Fingers crossed
that the Canberra Region Junior Rugby League will be able to release the
remainder of the draw over the next week.
Another weekend of football has slipped by with some fantastic effort by
our players and their officials. A few special mentions though. Our
awesome Under 6 team had an unexpected week off after some `nasty
business’ at Gordon caused the cancellation of their game. They will be
back hungrier than ever after a two week break. Keep training hard boys
and don’t forget to listen to your coach.
The mighty Under 7’s posted their first win of the season after a hard
fought game. The boys showed the importance of playing as a team and
reaped the rewards. Great job!
Congratulations to Jacob, Roger and the entire Under 16 team who
recently were moved up to Zone 1. On Friday night the team took on the
top of the ladder Valley Dragons, and in a mighty display of football, came
out victorious. By all accounts this was a great game – hard, fast, and
great sportsmanship from both teams. Well done!
There was an unfortunate incident at training last Thursday involving
some push and shove. Bullying in any form is unacceptable. Respect
yourself, your team mates and your coaches. Football is a team sport
and without your team mates there is no team!
Have a great weekend everyone. Hope you get at least one sleep in . If
you are travelling, do so safely and come back to us in one piece.
MATCH REPORTS
Managers are responsible for writing match reports. Please email your action
packed reports to [email protected] by 8pm on Sunday evening so we
can meet the Bungendore Mirror deadline. We are limited to a total of 500 words
for a combined club report so please try and limit yourself to about 50 words.
You can do a longer version for our club newsletter so feel free to email me two
reports. Please remember that the Gunnadoo Bakery is a sponsor of our Man of
the Match awards so this needs to be reflected in your match reports eg
Gunnadoo Bakery Man of the Match was..
Under 6
Did not play over the weekend due to a problem at the Gordon grounds.
Under 7
What little boy doesn't enjoy playing in the mud! Up against an evenly matched
Buffalos our U7 Tigers had the chance to gain some much needed confidence.
The game saw great hit ups and equally great defence from both teams going
from end to end try for try. Jack was our first Tiger to find the line using his
power to barge through the defence. Not only his 1st try for the season but
backed up to convert as well. Midge was on fire today, back to last season’s
form, and his brilliant speed and sidestepping got him across for the 2nd. Coops
or should I say Jamie, slotted the goal that was never going to miss. Bear was
next in line with some brilliant hard hitting running to get the Tigers 3rd, and
then converted. It didn't stop there , Azack’s determination got him over the
line, there's definitely a trend starting to happen here with Azacks try scoring
Bec!It may just be the new jersey number though.Midge found his accelerator
and got our 5th for the day and with the score level with a minute to go Bear
broke the defence to put the Tigers up by one.Although Tom Will Gabba and
Dom and Coops may not have got their own tries today many wouldn't have
happened if Will in his new role as dummyhalf, hadn't passed so well ,If Coops
as 1st receiver hadn't done his job in getting the ball to the right runner and if
Tom Gabba and Dom didnt have the brilliant hitups gaining valuable metres for
the team all the above would not have been possible. You pulled together and
played as a team today. Job well done!
What can I say about the tackling , each player got involved and tackled well.
Special mention to Dom who tackled like we all know he ca , Gabba who just
keeps on improving every game Bear who even though sick put in his usual big
effort and Midge what a wonderful effort . Unfortunately we had to choose
players to receive our weekly team awards, unfortunate because each and every
one of you deserved an award for the brilliant teamwork. Captains
encouragement award went to Dom. Gunnadoo Man of the Match went to Coops
and The Best and Fairest went to Tom. Final score Tigers 30 Buffalos 26. Only
down side from playing so well team, Coach Rod is going to expect more of it !
Keep up the great effort and most importantly keep having fun.
Under 8
A lack of size and a lot of missed tackles resulted in a loss for the Tigers going
down 0-46. Another great game from Mathew Casey in both attack and defense
earned him the Encouragement Award whilst some good runs with some great
fends from Caleb Quinn earned him the Gunna-Doo Bakery Man of the Match
Award. The Bast & Fairest Award went to George Linnegar for his continued
effort throughout the game. This team has a lot of potential but until they put
more effort into their tackling they will continue to lose games. Do in the game
what you do so well in training. Come on boys! You can do it!
Under 9
Our boys made lots of hard tackles, gained metres with good runs put together
amazing offloads and played a good kicking game - well done! We played
against the best team in our comp and after the game the opposition coach
came over and congratulated us on how well we played. Man of the Match mighty Brock and Tackler of the Week tough Sam.

Valley Dragons white 22 Defeated Bungendore Tigers 12
A wet soggy home game against a strong opposition saw the Tigers play
majority of their game defending. A big throw from "Gibo's Here" to Harry who
found space to score the first try for the Tigers, Thomas hit the pace and crossed
for the Tigers last try but all this was not enough to answer the Dragons four
Tries. Gunnadoo Man of the Match went to Dominic for a consistently trying and
the Tackling award went to Bill for an all round tough defensive game.
Under 12
A much improved effort from the boys today. Tackled well and ran off the line.
Spread the ball and ran hard. Everyone made a commitment this week and it
showed. Great try to Alex E who busted the line after a pass from Jay. Ty
shimmied down the field to slam down the ball. Casey scored in the corner after
a clever kick from Shannon. Jay again tackled above his weight! Might just have
been the kick start to the season we need. Great job guys. Gunnadoo Man of
the Match: Ty. Encouragement Award: Jay
Thanks to Jarrod and Ryan for helping us out – great runs guys 

Cooma 54 Tigers 4
Well, it was cold and damp and the boys didn’t turn up to play this week.
Back to old habits……
We played with no commitment for most of the match and didn’t play as a team.
It is a team game boys and you all have to put in %100 effort and commitment
to get a satisfying game. The 10 odd minutes we put in was good footy, got to
play for the entire game, as a team
Billy put in another solid performance and was Man of the Match.
Under 15
Under 15 Tigers versed the Woden Rams today and from the outset the game
looked a very one sided match. By half time the score was 36 nil to us. All
effort was put in to switching it up in the second half to work our positional plays
better and it did work, but there is still more work to do in that area at training
this week. Tries were scored today by Rylan, Shawn, Taylor, Justin (Stubbsy),
Matt Lockie and Brent. Great kicking effort today by Matt and the players player
went to Woody (Travis) as well as 1 point and two points to Shawn for a heavy
workload and three points to Captain Courageous Rylan Razza Gibson for leading
by example. Great game boys and a strong effort at training this week. See you
all THERE!!!
Under 16
Bungendore: 22 Valley dragons: 20
The boys travelled to Greenway to take on the competition leaders, we knew it
was going to be a hard game so we had to play our best. We started well but
weren’t keeping an eye on the ball which allowed them to score first points. The
boys fought back to go in at half time leading 12-8. We didn't start the second
half like we should of which allowed them to go out to a 20-12 lead. The boys
knuckled down and started playing some good football witch put has at 20 all
with a kick to come which was successful for us to win 22-20 well done boys,
let’s keep it up. Tries: Ben, Brad, Lachlan, Jordan. Conversions: Lachlan (1),
Jake (2)
Gunna doo bakery man of match: Ben D
MOUTHGUARDS
Are compulsory for all Tiger players so please ensure you are wearing one before
taking the field for either training or matchplay.
TRAINING
Training does not start until 4:30pm and finishes around 5:30pm (for u6 – u13)
depending on your coach. Please ensure children are not dropped off early as
there will not be any supervision at the ground. In addition, unless you have
made arrangements with your coach or manager, please ensure you collect your
child on time so everyone gets to go home and warm up.
Please ensure all players are training in football boots not work boots or school
shoes. If your child wears a mouth guard or headgear during matches, then you
should consider having them worn at training also.
Training shirts are compulsory!!
ON-FIELD BEHAVIOUR
Players, Coaching staff and spectators are reminded that unsporting behaviour
will not be accepted, and offenders will be ejected from the field. Shake your
opponent’s hand after the game; show your referee some respect; no
swearing; and cheers not jeers! Negative comments do not help with either
team morale or player (or referee) performances.
Team officials are reminded that should there be an on field altercation among
players on the field then under no circumstances are benched players allowed to
enter the field of play. Heavy penalties will be incurred to the players and the
club should this happen.
The Bungendore Junior Tigers wish to thank their generous and
valued sponsors for their continued support. These businesses
help to make it possible for your child to play local footy so where
possible support those who support us.
