and Technologies
Van Duc Nguyen was born in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, in 1973. He received the
Bachelor and Master of Engineering degrees in Electronics and Communications
from the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam, in 1995
and 1997, respectively, and the Dr.-Ing. degree in Communications Engineering
from the University of Hannover, Germany, in 2003.
From 1995 to 1998, he worked for the Electronics and Communications Faculty of
the HUST as an Assistant Researcher. In 1996, he participated in the student
exchange program between the HUST and the Munich University of Applied
Sciences for one term. From 1998 to 2003, he was with the Institute of
Communications Engineering, University of Hannover, first as a DAAD scholarship
holder and then as a member of the scientific staff. From 2003 to 2004, he was
employed with Agder University College in Grimstad, Norway, as a Postdoctoral
Researcher. From 2005-2006, he was with the International University of Bremen
as a Postdoctoral Fellow. In 2007, he joined the Sungkyunkwan University,
Korea, as a research professor for one month. In 2008, he received a scholarship
of the Austrian Academic Exchange Service (OeAD) for one month to work as a
researcher in the Klagenfurt University, Austria. In December 2013, he was
appointed by the HUST president as the director the Vietnamese German Centre for
technology cooperation. He served for the Vietnamese national foundation of
science and technology development from 2009 to 2015 as a member of the ICT
committee.
Since 2009, He became an associate professor at HUST. His current research
interests include Mobile Radio Communications, especially MIMO-OFDM systems,
radio resource management and cognitive radio technology for LTE-A networks,
wireless channel modelling for V2V, underwater communications. He has published
around 100 international conference and journal papers, and obtained 4
international patents.

Synchronization for real time signal transmission based on DSP platform
Real time signal processing must fulfill condition of low latency, which depends on the
different kind of Qualify of service. Moreover, the embedded system using for signal processing
normally has a low hardware performance and limited size of the memory, while the
synchronization algorithm for the real time signal transmission system requires a large enough
training sequence to detect the starting point of each received signal frame. To deploy the
synchronization algorithms on the embedded receivers with low physical performance is usually
challenge, because the condition of the time delay for the signal processing, as well as the
limited memory of the hardware platform used for storing the received training sequence. This
talk suggest some strategies to overcome these problems. A simple coherent FSK transmission
scheme implemented on the ARM cortex with the version of STM32F407VGTx will demonstrate
at the presentation. Application for underwater communications will also address.
