Rules For Using Tire Chains

Please read the following rules before installing your tire chains.
make sure:
• you have the right size tire chain for your tire size.
• there is enough clearance between the tread and your wheel wells.
• to inspect your tire chains prior to use for any broken or worn parts. ( SEE NOTE 1 )
• you try installing your tire chains prior to actually needing them in a snow storm.
• cross chain hook ends are facing away from the tire side wall.
• tire chains are properly installed and fit snug around tire.
• you test drive vehicle or equipment a short distance then readjust and retighten for a secure fit.
• any extra hanging links have been attached back to the side chain using wire, zip ties or cable ties.
do not:
• deflate tires to install tire chains.
• drive over fasteners and hooks while installing chains.
• install tire chains the wrong way. ( SEE NOTE 2 )
• install broken tire chains.
• drive with broken tire chains.
• put chains on the wrong wheels.
• drive with snow chains on bare pavement.
• use tire chains when towing other vehicles.
• hit curbing with tire chains on.
• exceed 30 mph.
• accelerate rapidly.
• spin tires.

NOTE 1. Tire chains need maintenance. Inspect your tire chains before each use and replace any broken or worn parts.
NOTE 2. Ladder style tire chains are built identical. Install tire chains in opposite directions so the quick hook is always positioned on the inside of the tire.
