Teams will consist of four male amateur members of the club designated. One player must have a handicap index between 5.4 and 12.4. The second player must have a handicap index between 12.5 and 24.0. Each of the remaining two players must have a handicap index between 5.4 and 24.0. Each member of the team must be twenty-one (21) years of age as of midnight of Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Each member must have an up-to-date USGA handicap index at his member club and have viewable scores from playing at the member club. The member club must be a club licensed to issue USGA handicaps. An up-to-date handicap index is a numerical value at the member club, not a recent transfer stating “none”. The date of the most current Handicap Index to be used for the tournament will be established by the Tournament Committee. All Handicap Indexes will be adjusted according to the slope and rating of the course being played. Each club may only enter one team in this event. The winner will be determined by the two best balls net. Entries open on June 6, 2011 and close at 5:00 pm on Friday, July 15, 2011. The entry fee for this tournament is $300.00 per team and includes cart and range balls for all players. The MSGA office will accept all entries received by 5:00 pm July 15, 2011. In addition, the MSGA Board reminds all teams that in the “spirit of the competition” it is the intent that the makeup of each team is comprised of male amateur members who are actively involved with their respective Clubs and maintain up-to-date USGA handicap indexes at that Club. USGA Rules govern all play. The MSGA Officer in charge is Matt Sloan. The MSGA has adopted the Local Rule, outlined in Appendix I of the Rules of Golf, permitting the use of DistanceMeasuring Devices as follows: In this competition, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used. Any violation of an eligibility issue (age, amateur status, handicap) will result in disqualification of the team involved.
