RED CARD GLOSSARY – INDOOR 59
Charging:
Charging is rushing the player or official in a threatening manner.
Includes leaving the benches during in game incidents
(starts at 4 games minimum)
Spitting (on or at someone): (1 year minimum)
Dissent:
Dissent is words or actions directed by a player, coach, or spectator
at a referee in dissent of any call. (starts at 1 game minimum)
Verbal abuse:
Verbal abuse is one step above dissent and can be directed at
anybody. This includes threats and hand gestures. (starts at 8 weeks
minimum)
Violent conduct:
Deliberate physical force that injures, attempts to injure, or abuses
any individual or facility property. (starts at 6 months minimum)
Fighting:
Fighting is one step above violent conduct, where players square off.
Instigating and Retaliation are terms that can be used when
describing fighting. (starts with 1 year minimum)
Unsporting Behavior:
Should any below actions result in a 3rd blue card or direct red.
(starts at 1 game minimum)
- yelling at or waving arms at an opponent
- calling for the ball when an opponent has possession
- inappropriate celebration after a goal is scored
- illegal re-entry of a player onto the field
- player(s) illegally entering the referee’s crease
- delay of game
- equipment violation
- audible obscene language
- delay in entering the bench to serve a penalty or re-entering the
field before the penalty expires
- on restart, intentionally kicking the ball into a defender to draw an
encroachment penalty on the defender
Persistent Misconduct:
An accumulation of incidences that required cards.
