Welcome to the 2016-2017 Pre-School Year!

regarding our program.
The Pre-school program is taught by Ms. Maggie who holds a Child Development
Associates degree and will operate Monday- Thursday 8:30am-12:00pm and includes
lunch. For those who choose our center for child care before or after the pre-school

the day.
Guidelines for our program – those marked with an (*) do not apply to children that
attend the center full-time.
 Payments of $200.00 are due by the 10th of each month, late payments will result
in a $30.00 late fee added to your account. First payment is due at the start of the
year and last payment will be April 15th, 2017.
 There is a $25.00 supply fee due by Aug. 31st.
 Children MUST be picked up by noon. A late fee of $1.00 per minute will be billed
for late pick-ups. If you need your child to remain at the center for longer you can
arrange so with the director or assistant director for a daily rate fee of $30.00 per
day. Children arriving before 8:30am will charged a flat rate of $5.00 per day.
 Children’s birthdays- if your child wishes to bring in a treat for their birthday we’d
love to help them celebrate, however we ask that healthy treats be provided if
possible and that all treats be approved by Ms. Maggie or the office staff.
TREATS CAN NOT CONTAIN EGG OR PEANUTS- ANY TREAT SENT IN
THAT DOES NOT HAVE INGREDIENTS LISTED WILL BE RETURNED!
 A calendar is provided with scheduled days-off. Although school is not in session
the center will normally remain open for care of our full time children unless
notified differently. We follow the Campbell County School Calendar, including
snow days, if Campbell County was to close for bad weather our pre-school
program will not operate, if your child attends you will be billed a full day rate of
$30.00
 Center closings- if the center was to close for any reason due to weather or any
other reason it will be listed on Channel 12 news, emails will be sent out and you
can also call the office at 442-0844 and listen to the recording.
 In order for your child to receive our full learning experience he/she needs to
attend when school is in session and on time.
 There will be a daily communication folder; this folder will contain information on
how your child’s school day was along with homework, reader books and other
important information. This is also a great way to communicate with the teachers.
THESE MUST GO HOME DAILY AND RETURNED THE FOLLOWING DAY!
 Progress reports will be sent home mid- December and at end of school year.
 A graduation will take place for children that will be attending kindergarten the upcoming school year. Date will be announced around April.
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL WILL BE MAY 12TH 2017.
We have provided you with information on the Saxon Curriculum that the center
teaches along with Kentucky State standards and a copy of the skills we will be
working toward. The Kentucky State standards are an outline of what children should
have a “starting learning concept” of when they begin kindergarten.
As always if you have any questions or concerns feel free to speak to email Mrs.
Maggie or any of the office staff. I can be reached via email as well @
[email protected].

About the Saxton curriculum:
Life Skills
In Preschool we are preparing children to be successful and happy people. We guide children to a healthy selfimage, loving and respectful relationships with others, and a responsible attitude toward their environment. We
incorporate life skills such as manners and etiquette, serving their own snacks and cleaning up their own messes.
We focus on hands on learning experiences, and exploration and discovery with age appropriate educational
materials.
Language Arts
We teach a letter sound each week in alphabetical order. Each sound is taught in an "enjoyable, multisensory
way" using a story and accompanying action. Saxon is a co-operative program between home and school that
helps parents reinforce what the children are learning in school. We do extensive work with phonemic awareness
using songs, identifying and practicing rhyming words and recognizing sounds in words.
Handwriting
The focus is on developing hand strength and fine motor skills as well as gaining a good pencil grip. They have
lessons for developing their body awareness, good habits, coloring, drawing and handwriting skills. They learn
how to form the capital letters using large manipulative.
Mathematics
We will be learning in small increments and reviewing the previously learned concepts throughout the year. At
the preschool level it works with concepts of shapes, colors, calendar skills, patterns, relational concepts,
beginning numerals, beginning money concepts, sorting and graphing.
Science
Our science program is hands on nature curriculum. The children have many experiences including planting
seeds, studying their five senses and observing the weather and the changing of the seasons. We also do simple
science experiments using water, lens, magnets and other materials.
