

What’s the Macromolecule?
o “Expert and Core” groups combine and share information regarding 4 major macromolecules of
living organisms. Students search the internet and/or use textbook. Students work in groups of
4 – 2 concentrate on power point and 2 concentrate on information page – both power point
and info page should share the same information (purpose, make-up, location, how used,
characteristics, examples, pictures, and diagrams)
 Simple 5 minute presentation to class on assigned macromolecule with created handout

Unit 4 – Cell Structure and Function
 Cell Theory Timeline
o Students in groups of two use resources on the internet along with the timeline template on
Microsoft Word to create a timeline showing the events leading up to the development of the
cell theory. Create timeline and print.
 Cells Alive Scavenger Hunt

 Students are given a list of questions/fill-in blank sentences and are required to
maneuver through the Cells Alive website to answer the questions. This gives them
another view of the cells and the cell organelles.
 Active vs. Passive Transport Web Quest
o Web quest made available on Public Drive.
 Students must go to various websites and follow through with virtual learning labs to
answer questions on the web quest. They are required to watch videos, manipulate
virtual situations, etc.

Unit 6 – Genetics
 Genetic Disorders Project
o Project requirements and guidelines are available on Mrs. Larner’s Schoolwires web page.
o Students must use internet resources and power point skills to research chosen genetic disorder
and create a power point that will be presented to the entire class.
 Grading by peers and teacher.


Dissection” button to start. A link is also listed in the Amphibians & Reptiles section of the Plants
& Animals page of the Kid Zone at http://sciencespot.net/ .

Kingdoms Storybook
o Project made available on Public Drive.
 Students must go to various websites to create a storybook. Storybooks are created
using Microsoft Publisher or Word.
