Unit 3 – Chemistry of Life What’s the Macromolecule? o “Expert and Core” groups combine and share information regarding 4 major macromolecules of living organisms. Students work in groups of 4 – 2 concentrate on power point and 2 concentrate on information page – both power point and info page should share the same information (purpose, make-up, location, how used, characteristics, examples, pictures, and diagrams) Simple 5 minute presentation to class on assigned macromolecule with created handout Online Unit Test o Students take Unit test online and scores are given to them as soon as they submit (scores are emailed to teacher!) Unit 4 – Cell Structure and Function Cell Theory Timeline o Students in groups of two use resources on the internet along with the timeline template on Microsoft Word to create a timeline showing the events leading up to the development of the cell theory. Create timeline and print. Cells Alive Scavenger Hunt o www.cellsalive.com Students are given a list of questions/fill-in blank sentences and are required to maneuver through the Cells Alive website to answer the questions. This gives them another view of the cells and the cell organelles. Active vs. Passive Transport Web Quest o Web quest made available on Public Drive. Students must go to various websites and follow through with virtual learning labs to answer questions on the web quest.
