The sections containing validation rules are shown below along with a description of the rule which applies to that section. If a validation rule is broken, a red warning box will appear at the top of the form, once “Release Final” or “Validate” is pressed. The warning box will contain the location of the error on the form and the reason why the validation rule has been broken. Please note: you can click on any of these errors to be taken to the question/cell that has broken that particular validation rule. A warning box means that the validation rules need to be satisfied before the data can be released back to the NHS Information Centre for health and social care. Until all the validation rules are satisfied the data can only be saved and not released. Data must be successfully validated and released for a submission to be considered complete. Validations by section Key to validations Symbol Meaning == …should be equal to… > …should be greater than… >= …should be greater than or equal to… < …should be less than… <= …should be less than or equal to… Section 1a 1. Value in Column A >= value in Column B Column B - “Total number of pharmacies in Section 4b - Exempt category - providing this service” is a sub-set of column A - “Total number of all pharmacies providing this service”. Therefore, the figures in column A should be greater than or equal to the figures in column B (in other words column B should be less than Column A). Section 2 1. The question “Number of local pharmaceutical services (LPS) contracts at 31 March 2010?”, zero or greater must be entered for rows 1 and 2 in the table. Row 3 >= (Row 8 + Row 9) (All Columns). Rows 8 & 9 (e & f) are both sub-sets of row 3 (c). Individually and summed together, their values cannot be more than row 3 (c). 3. Row 7, d) Applications outstanding at 31 March 2010 (excluding appeals) (c (1c+2c+3c)) cannot be a negative number. (i.e. >= 0) It is calculated from the values in cells C, 1C, 2C, and 3C using the formula (C – (1C+2C+3C)) 4. Column C >= Column D. Column 3a is a sub-set of Column 3. Therefore the values in Column 3a cannot be greater than the values in Column 3. 5. Column 3 corresponds to the Controlled Area columns in the table in section 3b; therefore each row of Controlled Areas in section 3b cannot be more than the value given in the corresponding row for column 3 - Controlled Areas in section 3(i). Cell C1 Cell C2 Cell C3 Cell C4 Cell C5 Cell C6 Cell C7 >= >= >= >= >= >= >= Section 3b, Cell A1 + C1 + E1 + G1 Section 3b, Cell A2 + C2 + E2 + G2 Section 3b, Cell A3 + C3 + E3 + G3 Section 3b, Cell A4 + C4 + E4 + G4 Section 3b, Cell A5 + C5 + E5 + G5 Section 3b, Cell A6 + C6 + E6 + G6 Section 3b, Cell A7 + C7 + E7 + G7 6. Column 5 corresponds to the Non-Controlled Area columns in the table in section 3b; therefore each row of Non-Controlled areas in section 3b cannot be more than the value given in the corresponding row for column 5 - Non-Controlled Areas in section 3(i). Cell E1 Cell E2 Cell E3 Cell E4 Cell E5 Cell E6 Cell E7 >= >= >= >= >= >= >= Section 3b, Cell B1 + D1 + F1 + H1 Section 3b, Cell B2 + D2 + F2 + H2 Section 3b, Cell B3 + D3 + F3 + H3 Section 3b, Cell B4 + D4 + F4 + H4 Section 3b, Cell B5 + D5 + F5 + H5 Section 3b, Cell B6 + D6 + F6 + H6 Section 3b, Cell B7 + D7 + F7 + H7 Copyright © 2012, The Health and Social Care Information Centre. All Rights Reserved. Section 3(ii) 1. A value of zero (0) or more must be entered for each cell. 2. Row 3 >= Row 8 + Row 9 (All Columns). Column A <= Column C. Column A (column 6) is a subset of column C (column 8) therefore the values in column A (column 6) cannot be greater than the values in column C (column 8). 5. Column B <= Column D. Column B (column 7) is a subset of column D (column 9) therefore the values in column B (column 7) cannot be greater than the values in column D (column 9). Section 3b 7. Row 7, Applications outstanding at 31 March 2010 (excluding appeals) (c - (1c+2c+3c)) cannot be a negative number. (i.e. >= 0) It is calculated from the values in cells C, 1C, 2C, and 3C using the formula (C – (1C+2C+3C)) 8. A value of zero (0) or more must be entered for each cell.
