We still don’t have new/updated information for prompt dose rates in the tunnel and/or energy deposition in the equipment. As you know Luigi Esposito that was supposed to do number of Monte-‐Carlo studies in the tunnel left ESS at the end of May, thus plans and time-‐frames for the new results have shifted to later dates. Currently, the end of this year is a scheduled time to obtain realistic dose maps in the tunnel. Best, Lali. Lali, Could you please send any possible updated information about distribution of the expected dose rate in the equipment ? Are the values listed below still correct ? Thanks in advance. Christine From: Lali Tchelidze Sent: Monday, November 04, 2013 2:46 PM To: Christine Darve Subject: Re: Dose equivalent around beam axis ? Hi Christine, At distances 5 – 50 cm from the beam pipe, maximum expected absorbed dose rate in the equipment can be estimated at (1 – 5) x 10^4 Gy/year for 24/7 normal operations. I don't have a dose map with good resolution yet, but I can produce one if necessary. Cheers, Lali. ______________________ Lali Tchelidze Physicist European Spallation Source ESS AB P.O Box 176, SE-221 00 Lund, Sweden Visiting address: Tunavägen 24, Lund Mobile: +46 72 179 20 61 Phone: +46 46 888 30 61 Page 1 of 3 E-mail: [email protected] www.esss.se From: Christine Darve <[email protected]> Date: Monday, November 4, 2013 2:24 PM To: ESS User <[email protected]> Subject: Dose equivalent around beam axis ? Lal, In reference to your calculation shown below, could you please send me a zoom of the deposition around the beam tube ? We need to estimate the maximum radiation resistance of equipment to be mounted at distance between 5 cm to 50 cm from the beam axis. The order of magnitude is less than 5 MGray. You can fit the time constant, accordingly. Thanks, Christine E.g.: Add scaling on the following zoom: Reference: Page 2 of 3 ______________________ Christine Darve Engineering Scientist Accelerator Division, European Spallation Source P.O Box 176, SE-221 00 Lund, Sweden Visiting address: Tunavägen 24, Lund Mobile: +46-721-79 20 28 Phone: +46-46-888 30 28 E-mail: [email protected] Web-page: http://cdarve.web.cern.ch Page 3 of 3
