Waipipi School Newsletter 100 Creamery Road RD3 Waiuku 2683 “Knowledge for Life” Issue Number: 30 Date: 23-09-2013 Principal: Michelle Brown [email protected] Our vision: Waipipi Students are successful learners, who communicate confidently and interact positively with others. School Beautification Project New Entrance: Craig Good is establishing a new entrance way path for the school. At the start of the path the garden is being done up and an entrance frame is being constructed by Graeme Statham. (example to the right) Entrance Frame: on one side of the frame there are some really lovely photos of our students in action. On the back of the frame there will be a spectacular mural designed and painted by a local artist, Juayrn Minhinnick. This mural tells the story of Waipipi School through his eyes. At the top of the entrance path will be some coloured pencils made from uni posts. The current garden that was beside the stairs has been removed. The current path the students use to get to the court will remain. Fixing old crumbly path by office Office Garden: This has been reframed by Graeme Statham. This will be stained and filled with mulch to stop the weeds. Verandah and Shade Sail This is being built around Room 5. It will give the protection from the elements and students shade.. Class, toilet and library refurbishment We are awaiting approval from the Ministry to get these projects started. We are hoping this will start day one, next term. Holiday Working Bee Mrs Brown would love some help to complete the following projects: 1. Stain seating by pool 2. Clear out garden at entrance way, under pool sign, and beside Rooms 1, 2 and 3. 3. Paint totem poles and attach clay tiles to them. 4. Remove tree by swimming pool that drops sticky bits. If you are able to give some of your time please email or ring Mrs Brown. Thanks! New Tennis Court In the Christmas holidays a new tennis court is being built near the school office. This court will add to our playground space over winter when the grass areas get very muddy.
