LT6 Rubric and checklist

Learning Target 6 Rubric and Checklist
Target 6: I can develop a model to describe the cycling of Earth’s materials (rocks and
minerals) and the flow of energy that drives this process.
CHECKLIST:
CONTENT DESCRIPTORS: The science ideas you should write about!
LT #6 : Pathway Steps
(3) To meet grade level expectations you must include the following in your explanation:
I can identify the
3 classes of rocks.
I can identify the
different processes
or forces that can
lead to the 3 classes
of rocks.
 Identify each of the 3 classes of rocks.
 Identify the different processes / forces that can lead to the 3 classes of rock.
(Above 3) Include all of the above and the following:
 In the explanation, goes to depth with more than 1 of the processes/forces by adding
depth/details to the complexity of the rock cycle processes.
OR  In the explanation, goes to depth with all of the processes/forces by adding
depth/details to the complexity of all rock cycle processes.
Step 1 & Step 2
I can explain in
depth the pathway
and process that produces
one class of rock.
I can explain in
depth the flow of
energy through
one of the
pathways.
Steps 3 & 5
(3) To meet grade level expectations you must include the following in your explanation:
 Identifies the one class of rock to be explained.
 Identifies the process that creates this class of rock.
 Identifies the pathway that produces this class of rock.
 Explains in depth the Earth processes that produce this
class of rock.
This section is all about
your chosen class of rock.
Make sure your
explanations from steps
3 + 5 go with the same
class of rock!
 Identifies the energy responsible for producing this one
class of rock.
 Explains in depth the flow of energy through one of the pathways that produce this
class of rock.
(Above 3) Include all of the above and the following:
 In the explanation, includes multiple pathways which produce multiple types and
classes of rock and provides real-world examples of these rocks.
OR
 In the explanation, provides real-world examples of the types of rocks produced in
various stages of the rock cycle.
OR
 In the explanation, goes to depth with more than one pathway of energy in the rock
cycle.
(3) To meet grade level expectations you must include the following in your explanation:
I can identify the
points of entry of
energy into each
of the different cycle
pathways.
Step 4
 Identifies the type of energy required at the various rock cycle pathways.
 Identifies the pathways in the proper sequence.
 Identifies the energy leading into, during, or exiting the pathway of the rock cycle.
(Above 3) Include all of the above and the following:
 Includes multiple points of entry of energy at the various rock cycle pathways.
OR
 Includes the stages that the landform went through to become what it is
OR
 Explains how weathering may affect their landform.
Model/Cycle Checklist
 Model should include effective fonts, font size, layout and colors.
 Includes sub-titles and headings.
 Must include visuals that support the content.
 Presents your model in the form of a cycle.
 Cycle takes us through the natural flow of the erosion/deposition cycle
 Model is well-organized and follows the steps of the learning target.
 You have placed your name and period on your model.
 Completion plan:
