ASA robotics team wins tournament, advances to regional
WINTER HAVEN – A team of young All Saints Academy robotic
engineers won two top awards last weekend (Dec. 13) at a regional
qualifying tournament in Lakeland.
The ASA “Generation Bot” team of fourth and fifth graders won the
Champion’s Award and the Robot Performance trophy during the
Rochelle Robotics Roundup. The team also earned a spot in the Feb. 7
regional competition at Polk State College.
The ASA team had the youngest students participating in the meet,
which was a FIRST LEGO League contest sanctioned by not-forprofit, volunteer-run Florida Robotics Education, Inc. The program
targets 9- to 16-year-olds.
“Generation Bot” team members are fourth graders Emily Hartline, Iva Kozul, Alena Kozul, Ali Mousli, Miles
Weber; and fifth graders Alex Acosta, Kevin Rivera and Gunner Garner. Their coach is Sarah Kozul.
“We were proud to hear our students recognized for the top technical score, a creative and well-researched
project, and core values that began before the judging started and continued long after the scoring
stopped," said June Stewart, head of the ASA Lower School.
