Sangeda et al.,
March 01, 2016
PBL
 An
instructional method that initiates
students learning by creating a need to
solve an authentic problem.
 Students
construct content knowledge
and develop problem-solving skills as
well as self-directed learning skills while
working toward a solution to the
problem.
PBL
• PBL is perhaps the most innovative method ever
implemented in education
• PBL in HLI gradually occurred throughout the 1990s
and has been applied globally in a variety of
professional schools-medicine
• “True learning is based on discovery . . . rather
than the transmission of knowledge.”
PBL FOR SUA
• The need for applying PBL as pedagogical
method at SUA cannot be over emphasized
• PBL will prepare SUA graduates to become job
creators and not just job seekers
• This will increase SUA contribution to the
national development agenda of reducing
unemployment and alleviating poverty.
