GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD PROGRAM
1.
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The purpose of this program is to encourage riders to show respect to officials, parents and other riders as
well as acting in a kind, generous and courteous manner.
Nominations are open to all riders who ride at the Byford BMX Club.
2.
SPONSOR
For 2016, the program has been proudly sponsored by BB Cycles.
3.
PROGRAM
A.
MONTHLY AWARD
Each calendar month, nominations will be taken for a rider to be awarded “Good Sport of the Month”.
1.1.1 Nominations
Nominations are open to Committee Members and Volunteers on race nights. Nominations are made via
the Good Sport Nomination Form and must provide the Childs name, date of the nomination, age of rider,
name of person making the nomination and the reason the rider has been nominated.
Nominations can only be made for unrelated riders (I.e. Family members cannot nominate a related rider).
1.1.2 Winner Selection Process
All nominations will be compiled by the Club President (or delegate) and presented to the Management
Committee for voting. The vote should be done on the merit of the reason, with the age of the rider taken
into account.
The list provided to the Management Committee will exclude any details which identify the riders so that
the voting process can be done blind avoiding any perceived bias.
The Club President (or delegate) who prepared the compiled list must abstain from the vote.
1.1.3 Award
The winner of the monthly award will be presented with:

A “Good Sport of the Month” certificate

A gift voucher from the sponsor to the value of $50
The presentation of the award will occur on the next race night after the Management Committee vote.

YEARLY AWARD
1.1.4 Nominations
All nominations received via the Monthly Award (Section 3A above) will provide automatic entry to the
Yearly Award.
1.1.5 Winner Selection Process
The winner of the Good Sport of the Year award, will be determined by:

Consistency of showing good sportsmanship like behaviour

Exceptional behaviour shown determined by the reasons provided
1.1.6 Award
The winner of the yearly award will be presented with:

A “Good Sport of the Year” certificate

A perpetual plaque with the winner’s name and year engraved on it

A trophy with “Good Sport of the Year” engraved on it

A gift voucher from the sponsor to the value of $200
The presentation will occur at the end of year break up for the club.
