Through hard work and dedication to his craft,
Jim Martin is considered one of the most knowledgeable single action revolver gunsmiths of our
time. Through decades of association with Colt
(since 1959), Jim became a primary consultant
for Jerry Kunnhausen’s book which is ‘Colt Single
Action Revolvers, a Shop Manual’ Vol 1&2’.
Several championships (California State
Championship 4 times, the Western State
Championship and the World Champion Fancy
Gun Handling twice and several Regional Wax
“Kit-Gun”
Contests) allowed Jim to work at Paramount
Studio, MGM, Corriganville and later at the old
Paramount Movie Ranch. This was a memorable
time with being a Gun Coach, Gunsmith while working with the likes of Jock Mohoney, Jay
Silverheels, Iron Eyes Cody and others. During this time Jim built Alfonsos first gun, Ray Park one of
“Ojalas 4 Aces” which was used to compete in Fast Draw and they are still being used today.
