Speaker Jam New Dominion March 22
Involve other areas
Talk about WSR project (inmate step writing)
Discuss new and innovative ways to carry the message to facilities, i.e.
conference call meetings in facilities
Correctional professionals
ECCNA conference call (have package available for facilities, ECCNA
responsibility)
Involve all the areas – give commitments to various areas to discuss various
H&I/PR challenges and solutions, TASCNA H&I Chair and PR Chair committed to
attending and sharing at the event
Create an invite letter to give out at February’s regional and distribute
throughout the Region (responsibility of Speaker Jam Chair)
Need to get with Rudy on slots
Reach out to other areas to share on H&I experience with a specific topic
Facilitation groups on topics was discussed but is not in line with the intended
format of the speaker jam
Speaker jam is supposed to be speakers brought from all over the region to hear
experience strength and hope
Thought the intent was to get H&I speakers from all over the area to share
experience with H&I
NA way magazine Colorado Region Dept of Corrections Coordinator position was
discussed
One of the slots could be a small panel with specific topics
Purpose of speaker jam is to help struggling areas
PR and outreach, is that even happening

All agreed that if any H&I discussions occurred at this speaker jam that a panel of
H&I representatives from around the area would best suit the format of the
event

Challenges, clear NA message at commitments
What to do when meetings are being carried with a mixed message
Ways to carry a clear NA message and your role in PR as H&I member
Tidewater talks specifically about what type of meetings should be carried in
different types of facilities

Emphasize different format for H&I presentations
WSR Project
Area in Georgia is reaching out to other areas that don’t have WSR (Inmates step
writings)
Tried to start this in Almost Heaven and got bogged down by policy
There is a lot of experience with this effort at NAWSO
Get with Collin at WSO to talk about
Policy examples available on line and in Lawrences archive
Needs to be put out on a Regional level
Is there a need for this? What facilities need this?
Need a person to distribute mail through one person.
Letters should go through one P.O. Box and there should be an avenue for
complaints and accountability
No regional sub committee policies are sent to home groups
H&I committee should write the guidelines for this effort
H&I Chair to write rough draft of policy and implementation plan by next subcommittee meeting
Set completion goal for this project at next sub committee meeting
Could set up separate time to discuss WSR project
Need to consider if this effort will be sponsorship or just step correspondence. If
sponsorship what would be allowable correspondence, visitation or writing?
Not supposed to be sponsorship
Collin has notes on previous webinars concerning various inmates step
correspondence programs.
Should not be a policy governing sponsorship

The unity day in Brazil 2015, The ECCNA live feed
Get letter out to areas for approaching
Region gets one free call in and then anyone else can pay for connection
Contact facilities with PR letter
Could be Good Avenue to pursue facilities
Some facilities have specific therapeutic communities
Need to try and approach state officials
Tidewater has done a lot of work on cataloging facilities
Case manager, community resource, re-entry coordinators in California
