Ray McGovern works with Tell the Word, the publishing arm of the ecumenical Church of the Saviour in
inner-city Washington. An Army veteran, Ray served as a CIA analyst from the administration of John F.
Kennedy to that of George H. W. Bush. Ray’s duties included chairing National Intelligence Estimates and
preparing and presenting the President’s Daily Brief. In January 2003, Ray helped create Veteran
Intelligence Professionals for Sanity to expose the way intelligence was being falsified to “justify” war on
Iraq. Ray’s opinion pieces have appeared in many leading newspapers here and abroad.
Phyllis Bennis directs the New Internationalism Project at the Institute for Policy Studies. She has
been a writer, analyst, and activist on Middle East and UN issues for many years. In 2001, she helped
found and remains on the steering committee of the U.S. Campaign to End Israeli Occupation. She
works closely with the United for Peace and Justice anti-war coalition, co-chairs the UN-based
International Coordinating Network on Palestine, and since 2002 has played an active role in the
growing global peace movement. Her latest book is Ending the US War in Afghanistan: A Primer.
