Introduction
The Nova Scotia Performance Pathways Initiative is a funding mechanism for sports in Nova
Scotia to receive funding based on high performance and achievements. The development of
this team is an integral part to Gymnastics Nova Scotia meeting its objectives in relation to this
funding initiative. The purpose of the team is to identify and assist those athletes who may have
the potential to be a part of the Canadian Junior National Team and their coaches. To best meet
these goals the team will be selected based on the current Elite Pathway Model set out by
Gymnastics Canada in keeping with the goals of our National Sporting Organization.

Scoring and Selection
There will be two components to how gymnasts are scored:
1. Technical/Skills Ability:
1. Skills and combinations are pulled directly from the Gymnastics Canada Elite
Pathways Program with some minor adjustments
2. The baseline score is 54pts however, there bonus points may be awarded to achieve
a higher score in some instances
3. Judging will be on a purely FIG basis with certain additional deductions explained for
some events
4. Technical/Skills Ability will comprise approximately 75% of the final score
2. Physical Ability:
1. The flexibility and strength routines are the exact same as the ones found in the Elite
Pathways Program
2. Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4 athletes must compete Flexibility and P-Bar Strength but DO NOT
compete Rings Strength
3. Y5, Y6, Y7 and Y8 athletes must compete Flexibility, P-Bar Strength and Rings
Strength
4. Scores will be judged as per the Elite Pathways Program and then modified to reflect
baseline score of 18pts
