Thank You!
A big thank you to all the families who attended the Dugout Booster Club meeting. We had 63 people in
attendance tonight!
Committee Chairs
We are still looking for Freshman, JV and Varsity Concessions Coordinator(s) to coordinate concessions and a
volunteer schedule for home games and summer events. Please note all parents will be responsible for
working concessions throughout the season.
Communication
If you haven’t done so already, please go to www.jeromebaseball.com and request to join. The coaches send
out email blasts from this site and it is essential for receiving all team communications including
announcements, schedules, photos, etc. Also, please follow us on Twitter @jeromebaseball1.
Team Update from Coach Huesman
 Physicals are posted on the baseball web site at www.jeromebaseball.com. Please check the list to
make sure your son’s physical has not expired or will not expire during the season.
 Huesman received a copy of the team’s GPAs and is very proud of their hard work. The baseball team
averaged a 3.5 GPA. Academics are monitored and taken very seriously so keep up the good work!
 Hitting practices are Monday & Wednesdays. Freshman and Sophomores hit from 3:00-4:30. Juniors
and Seniors have been moved to 4:30-6:00 (sometimes 6:30). Durant practices are Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 through February 20th. We may add some Saturday morning sessions. Coach
Stoner is currently working on our pitching program which is about to start.
 Mandatory practice starts February 20th. We don’t have school that day but we will have practice. This
is mandatory unless you are continuing on in a winter school sport at Jerome. Once practice starts the
team will practice every day including Saturdays
 Starting Feb 20th no one can participate with any other team (summer ball teams, trainers etc). This is
a very strict rule. However; players can go to places like Mannino’s for a paid private lesson if
necessary.
 Schedules are out on the baseball website at www.jeromebaseball.com
 Information about apparel orders will come out within the next couple of weeks. Players will be
required to purchase a jersey and hat which they keep at the end of the season. All players will need to
purchase their own white baseball pants. Any kind is fine as long as they are all white.
 The team typically averages 60-70 kids per year. We are at 64 right now. Freshman have 28 players.
Our goal is to move some up to JV on an as needed basis because sophomore numbers are low. Players
may be interchangeable between the 2 teams. The goal is 20 players for Freshman and 20 for JV
 Please make sure your son has the right equipment. Start thinking about specific gloves (i.e, outfielders
to have an outfielder glove, infielders to have an infielder glove), The right equipment is very
important. Most players use a -3 bat that’s 33”. As a reminder, all bats must have the BBCOR logo on it.
Call Huesman if you need advice on any equipment.
 Freshman and JV will have locker rooms by the gym. Varsity will have lockers out by the field. Catching
equipment for any team can be kept in the hitting facility throughout the week.
 Huesman can film kids and help with the college recruiting process.
Booster Fees
Booster fees are $250.00 per family plus $50 per athlete for Mike Durant’s winter team training workouts. For
example, if you have 2 baseball players at Jerome, you would pay $250 + $50 + $50= $350. If you have 1 player
you would pay $250 + $50= $300.
The club would like to request payments be made as soon as possible. Checks should be made out to “Jerome
Baseball Dugout Club”. Players can give their checks to their coaches to pass along to Tom Vinci for deposit.
Please know that if your child were to not make the team, your booster fees will be returned.
Florida Trip Information
Tom Vinci is collecting the $600 fee for Varsity players going to Florida for Spring Break. Checks should be
made out to “Jerome Baseball Dugout Club”.
January 17, 2017 Page 2
As a reminder, the dates are March 25-29 (4 nights, 5 days). Will not practice on Friday, March 23rd. As a
reminder, the cost does not include transportation to and from Florida. The $600 player fee will include
games, player lodging, park passes and transportation to and from the fields. Players will stay at the Caribbean
Beach Hotel on Disney grounds. Families will stay at a hotel of their choice. Disney has a food court, volleyball,
pools, etc. It is very safe. Kids get 3 passes to theme parks and time is built in for those.
Players will need to be down there the afternoon of Saturday, March 25 th. There will be a team meeting that
evening at 6 PM then players will practice that evening. They will play 4-5 games (double header each day).
They will play Wednesday morning then travel back to Dublin Wednesday evening or Thursday morning.
Players will need to be back Thursday late afternoon for practice. Their first league game is Friday, March 31st.
Families may want to start looking for flights and hotels now to get good deals.
*Important*
Coach Bookmyer needs everyone’s flight information on Varsity only, (departures and arrivals) both there
and back to give to the transportation company who puts bag clips on the player’s bags. The bags will be
transported from the airport to the hotel room and will be waiting for the players when they arrive at the
hotel. Please email this information to Coach Bookmyer at [email protected] as soon as
you have it.
Spring Break Policy
Freshman can go on break without being penalized. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors not going on the Florida
trip must remain in Dublin to practice and play in scrimmages that week. Freshman need to be back for their
March 31st OCC season Opener. Unfortunately, we do not control the OCC schedule so we don’t have any say
with that schedule.
Fundraising Update
Upcoming Restaurant Nights:
 BW3 – February 8, 2017
 Larosa’s- February 22, 2017
DJDC Mattress Sale
Fundraising event Saturday February 11, 2017 at Grizzell Middle School, 8AM – 5PM. The mattresses are name
brands (Beauty Rest, Serta, etc.). If every player brings in 1 person who buys a mattress the team can make
$10,000. Mattresses can be deliver anywhere including out of state. Please spread the word about the
fundraiser via email, social media and with the coupons handed out at tonight’s Dugout Club meeting.
Jimmy Journal Restaurant Cards
In past years, players have raised up to $10K in a single year. We request players sell 20 cards each. The cards
are for good restaurants in Dublin and you only have to use them a few times to get your money back.
Other Fundraisers
We are working on other fundraising ideas such as the ones below.
 A golf outing or 5K run combined with other athletic teams at Jerome (concept phase)
 An authentic Cubs jersey and an authentic Indians jersey to be auctioned off
