TFOCA-II MUD Cable Assembly FSI MUD Cable Assembly using TFOCA-II Series Connectors TFOCA-II is the 2nd generation TFOCA connector. It possesses all the functional/performance attributes of the original TFOCA. Enhancements include 4 & 12 channel configuration and the use of commercially available 2.5mm zirconia ceramic ferrules. The TFOCA-II connector can use an optional mounted polishing puck, which allows the connector termini to be re-polished without disassembling the connector. Single-Mode TFOCA-II connectors are ideal for today’s high bandwidth and broadband applications based upon exclusive angle polish at 6 degrees. This guarantees low back reflection (< -50 dB) through thousands of mates/de-mates and even when the connectors are unmated. TFOCA-II PLUG Maintainability: All FSI TFOCA-II connectors have a removable end cap to allow field level repair and cleaning. Removing the cap allows direct access to the alignment sleeve and termini for thorough cleaning and periodic maintenance. In most cases, the connector can be easily cleaned without removing the cap by dipping the connector in water then shaking off excess water prior to connection with little impact on optical performance. A more thorough cleaning can be performed later. The functionality of the Mud Box is to interface a 12 channel fiber optic cable with three 4 channels fiber optic cables that breakout and route to different equipment. FSI has developed a tactical cable breakout that eliminates the need for the Mud Box.
