DVDs without menus
Autorun
Encore
 Create the DVD menu structure (main screen, subscreens)
General Procedure we will follow:
 Start Encore (Used to burn DVDs)
 File >New Project (or choose an existing Encore project .ncor extension)
 Import the mp4 file that we exported from Premiere (Import as timeline, to
be precise)
 note: review: mp4 is a container…just like a zip file can contain different
things, an mp4 usually contains a h.264 video (The actual movie)
Getting started
 Start Adobe Encore
 Select New Project ( will result in an .ncor extension) (or open existing one)

 Browse
• Enter a name
• Set (Browse) the Location value to the same folder as your
mp4 file (InClass>Premiere>Projects>cats
Misc stuff
 You’ll see a message saying transcoding is going on:
 Transcoding means there is a change of formats
 choose File>Import as Timeline
 Browse to your mp4. file that you exported from Premiere….cat timelinev2.mp4

Build tab
 We will modify several of these parameters, which change as
we continue along
 Insert your DVD
 Click the Build tab (DON’T click the Build button, yet)…may
need : Window>Build
I’ll Go over the components…
Select:

Be sure to choose Format:DVD and Output:DVD Disc
The Destination area,
Destination…
 If you’re using re-writable DVDs (some of you are) you might want to click
the Auto Erase …
 The Recorder device listed is your DVD drive
 The write speed, leave alone

 Click anywhere inside Project to show the Disc panel on the right side, top

Name..what ever you want. I used Cats DVD
Specify what to do when disc inserted (What does it do?)
Assign names to chapter stops
First say to give all chapter points (We only have 1)names.
 On the timeline find white marker. Right-click and should be a
Chapter 1…find it?
 Can also rename the Chapter 1 to whatever is meaningful: next
slide

 Select “Chapter 1” in timeline
 Find the Properties>Chapter>Name window
• Rename as play
Turns red
First play
 Select Disc tab
 Tell Encore what to do when the DVD is inserted into the player: Assume no
menus first
 Drag (whip)to Play or select from dropdown
What do at End
 OK, now we have told Encore what to tell the DVD player should do when
the DVD is inserted; how about the end of the DVD?
 Click the Project tab
 Click on your timeline name ( Cats timelinev2 for me)

NOTE: Make sure all the files are transcoded, if not,
right click and choose to transcode:
End…
•Set Timeline> End Action to “Stop”(Or go back to Chapter 1) (use whip or the dropdown)
•I’ll send the viewer back to Chapter 1

 Or…I might stop
Burn
 Burn the DVD…
 if you have a +RW
 if another format, don’t burn, some of our dvds are not RW
 Select the Build tab
 Click Build button
Errors
 Don’t worry re errors
 To end them, use stop as what to do when title clicked
 Can preview the DVD
Burn
 Click Start in the Check Project window
End---burns
Test when DVD finishes
Save as Cats Encore project
