Cool Choices is a Madison-based nonprofit that implements innovative engagement programs to
inspire individuals, communities and businesses to adopt practices that reduce their greenhouse
gas emissions.
Position Overview:
The Game Tester supports Cool Choices’ program implementation by testing program tools and
conducting usability tests as needed. The QA Tester’s efforts will help Program Staff increase,
improve and expand the efficacy of our engagement platforms.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Provide quality assurance support for Cool Choices program efforts:
 Test features for the Cool Choices engagement platform, and
document findings, including any bugs, using established
protocols
 Document opportunities to add new features that will enhance
user experience/user interface for a variety of users
 Help identify procedures to make testing more efficient and
effective
2. Collect user testing data from participants
 Conduct usability tests to ensure the platform is intuitive
 Conduct participant interviews to understand wants and needs
for new features

Required Qualifications
Education
Applicant should have an undergraduate degree, or be an undergraduate with at least junior
standing in an accredited college or university and GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Required Skills & Experience
1. Outstanding analytical skills, as demonstrated by past work experience or college projects
2. Technical writing skills as demonstrated an ability to clearly and accurately describe a
technical problem or user interface
3. Superior time management, project management, and organizational skills as
demonstrated by past work experience or classroom experience
4. Classroom experience or work experience using code
Desirable Skills and Experience
1. Familiarity with resource efficiency concepts and strategies across electricity, natural gas,
gasoline, water and waste
2. Experience promoting environmentally sustainable practices
3. At least one college level course in Computer Science or Statistical Computation
4. Fluency with online social media / gaming platforms
5. Ability to create mockups and wireframes
6. Familiarity with bug testing and quality assurance

Physical Requirements
The physical demands for this position include sitting at a computer or in meetings for long
periods of time and using telephone and email to communicate with existing and potential
customers, and the general public. Occasional light lifting of up to 25 lbs. is also essential.
