THIS F.A.Q. LIST IS PERIODICALLY UPDATED, ON THE BASIS OF THE MOST FREQUENT QUESTIONS
THAT WE RECEIVE.
1. Who can apply to the Call for foreign students at the Galilean School?
Non-Italian citizens (both from UE and outside UE), residing OUTSIDE Italy. Applicants must
hold a Bachelor degree (or obtain it before July 31, 2017) and not be older than 26 before
the application’s deadline (22 May 2017). All applicants must also enroll in a Second Cycle
Degree (2-years Master Degree, in Italian Laurea Magistrale), following the application
procedures and deadlines in the admission notices (admission bulletins), available from
this link
Please, pay particular attention to the application deadlines, as they are 26 April 2017 for
most English-taught Second Cycle Degrees.
Be aware, that you cannot enroll to the Galilean School if you are not admitted and
enrolled to a Second Cycle Degree at the University of Padova.
2. Should I physically have to take part in a selection interview for the Galilean School?
No, it is not compulsory. Please remember to specify your Skype nickname in your CV, for a
possible remote interview. If the selection committee decides to interview you via Skype
during the selection process, you will be previously informed by e-mail.
3. Should I have to choose one of the three Galilean School branches (area of Humanities,
area of Social Sciences, area of Natural Sciences)?
No. The selection committee will suggest you the most suitable branch, according to your
interest area, considering your past academic career and the outcome of the possible
remote interview (via Skype).
As described in the Galilean website, the 3 branches are divided into
- the Class of Moral Sciences, including literature, history, philosophy;
- the Class of Natural Sciences, based on mathematical, physical, chemical, biomedical and
technical studies;
- the Class of Social Sciences (new from 2014), where students follow courses of law,
economics, sociology, communication sciences, social psychology and history.
4. Which is the relationship between the enrollment at the University of Padova and the
enrollment at the Galilean School?
- The applicants for the Galilean School must also follow the procedures, in order to enroll
at a Second Cycle degree of the University of Padova.
- The 4 best applicants who have passed the selection procedure for the Galilean School
will be admitted and later enrolled at the Galilean School, provided that they have
successfully concluded the enrolment procedure at a Second Cycle degree of the
University of Padova.
The Galilean students will follow the courses and take the examinations of the chosen
Second Cycle Degree at the University of Padova; at the same time, they will follow the
courses and activities and take the internal examinations of the Galilean School.
At the end, the successful students will receive both a Second Cycle Degree Diploma from
the University of Padova and a Galilean Diploma from the Galilean School (after a Galilean
final discussion).
