Steps to arrange for Outside Radiological Studies to be read by SBM Radiology
There are three separate steps for arranging a read of any outside radiologic studies
1. The study must first be loaded into the Life Image cloud. The study must either have been
transferred to the cloud by an outside hospital. Alternatively, the patient will have presented to
SBM with a CD and that CD may be uploaded to the Life Image cloud. If you do not have the
CD and if the images are not yet uploaded onto the cloud, you may need to contact the
outside hospital to arrange for the images to be loaded onto the cloud.
2. Once the image is loaded onto Life Image, you must "nominate" the exam from the cloud to
PACS. The nomination must be "to consult" and not just "to storage". You will need the
patients SBM MRN.
3. There are two separate orders that must be entered into the patient's order set. Note the
image below, you must enter both the request to digitize the image and the request to consult
the image (if so desired). Type “outside” & you will find the list below. Use the study prefaced
LifeImage for Xrays, use the others for CT, MRI or US. Remember to order both “consult” and
“digitized”.
