Our Toronto Energy Group has extensive experience in independent
power production including development, permitting and financing of
projects, obtaining regulatory approvals and advising on construction,
operating and maintenance, energy savings, power purchase and gas
procurement and gas purchase agreements. We also have active practices
in electricity and natural gas regulatory matters including issues relating to
energy deregulation, restructuring, utility service unbundling and utility rates.
The group is currently representing Sithe Global on the development,
construction and financing of two 850 MW natural gas powered stations
in Brampton and Mississauga and bidding them into the RFP process
recently announced by the Ontario government. In addition, students are
working on the preparation of evidence for an energy contract arbitration
and researching issues involving an IMO Market dispute.
