Learning sequences in APM (2011 curriculum)
Most advanced major / elective courses assume that students have completed
basic courses. You need to make sure that you take courses in sequential
manner. There are some cases that you have to take a particular course prior
to taking another course, although both of them are in the same level (100, 200,
300).
Learning sequences below ensure the effective learning in each field of study.
However, you have to be careful when you make your study plan, because the
courses may not be offered in a particular semester.
Learning sequences in accounting courses
In accounting field, you need to study Accounting I and Introduction to
Management. If you wish to study advanced courses, you are expected to take
Accounting II, and then, Financial Accounting. As some courses are not
offered in every semester, you must carefully make your study plan.

Learning sequences in finance courses
If you wish to study advanced finance courses, you should to complete Finance
(core) first. It is desirable that you also complete Accounting I and Business
Mathematics before taking Finance. Some advanced courses also require
some knowledge of economics (please note Introduction to Economics is a
Liberal Arts course). The sequence in the chart below ensures effective
learning of finance courses. As some courses are not offered in every
semester, you must carefully make your study plan.

Learning sequences in economics courses
In order to take courses in economics, it is necessary to complete Introduction to
Economics (Liberal Arts course). This course provides an overview of basic
microeconomics and macroeconomics. It is expected that you have the
knowledge of Microeconomics and / or Macroeconomics in order to take
advance major economic courses. It is highly recommended that you take both
Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. As some courses are not offered in
every semester, you must carefully make your study plan.

Learning sequences in innovation courses
In order to take major courses in innovation field, you are expected to complete
Production Management first. Prior to taking Production Management, you will
need to complete Introduction to Management. It is strongly advised that
students complete Business Mathematics prior to taking Production
Management. Knowledge of statistics (Liberal Arts course) is also helpful.

In order to study advanced courses in Strategic Management & Organizations
(SMO), you need the knowledge of Organizational Behavior (core). Some
courses (Service Management, International Transactions, and International
Logistics) require prior knowledge of Principles of Marketing, as well as
Introduction to Economics (Liberal Arts course). As some courses are not
offered in every semester, you must carefully make your study plan.
