This splice closure uses TE Connectivity’s well accepted gel sealing technology to create a sealed closure system that will fit into confined areas such as small “flowerpot” style handholes. The Gator splice closure incorporates our unique cable hold down and strength member termination features and is capable of holding either fusion or mechanical splices. Simple closing of the lid and base creates a sealed closure system. No separate grommets, mixing of chemicals or tools are required. Tone wires can also be terminated outside of the closure using the included hardware. FEATURES AND BENEFITS • Compatible with most flat drop cable type • Accommodates up to 12 single fibers, 12 ribbonized fibers, or one 12 fiber ribbon • Gel sealing • Toning wire hardware included • Small size: 7.5" x 5.8" x 1.2" thick • Two mounting tabs are integrated into the closure base to allow easy mounting • Re-enterable but not re-usable Descripton Gator 12F splice Closure Package Part Number 10/pk MR3919-000 Item Description Package Part Number Item Description 100/pk 88823Y-00 FDSC-GATOR-TEL-SPLICE FDSC-GATOR-12-T Product Dimensions 7.5" x 5.8" x 1.2" ACCESSORIES Descripton Tone Wire Connector Fiber Type Splice Proctection Sleeves 62 mm length 100/pk 693979-000 SMOUV-1120-01-US 45 mm lenght 100/pk 143339-000 SMOUV-1120-02-US Single 47 mm lenght 50/pk 888498-000 SMOUV-1120-R2/12-US Ribbon 4-8 Single www.te.com/TelecomNetworks 1-800-366-3891 x73000 Fax: 1-952-917-3237 4/13 315802AE FIBER CABLE PRODUCTS Fiber Patch Cords......................................................................................................... 5-1 Multi-Fiber Patch Cords...........................................................................................5-3 IFC Cables w/ MPOptimate....................................................................................5-5 12-Fiber Plug-and-Play Array Cables................................................................5-8 www.te.com/TelecomNetworks 1-800-366-3891 x73000 Fax: 1-952-917-3237 10/13 315802AE Connectivity Solutions for Distributed Antenna Systems Fiber Cable Products Patch Cords SINGLEMODE PATCH CORDS (SIMPLEX AND DUPLEX) All patch cords undergo stringent testing for both insertion loss and return loss at the factory before shipment to ensure that only quality product is delivered to the customer. Generally, it will be constructed without metallic strength members and is designed to meet the fire resistant characteristics required in the central office. The number of fibers range from 12 to 144. Standard IFC assemblies are riser rated and meet UL-1666 OFNR. Two types of IFC are available: stranded and ribbon. With stranded cable, individual 900 µm fibers make up the construction of the cable. The fibers are bundled into subunits of 6- or 12-fibers each. Each subunit is identified and the individual fibers within the subunits are color-coded. Stranded IFC diameters increase in proportion with the fiber counts. CWDM Optical Add Drop Multiplexer (OADM) Module The CWDM OADM Assembly is used when it is desirable or necessary to combine the forward path or reverse path optical signals onto a single optical fiber. The CWDM OADM Assembly is installed into the OADM Splice Box, is wavelength dependent, and consists of Add and Drop modules of specific wavelengths. The CWDM OADM has fiber optic pigtails for splicing into OSP fiber and ProAx or pigtail from the Prism Remote. See figure below of OADM Assembly: OUT FROM OADM 2, REV PRIM OUT FROM OADM 1, REV SEC FWD (DROP FROM OADM 1 & 2) REV (ADD FROM OADM 1 & 2) IN FROM OADM 2, FWD SEC IN FROM OADM 1, FWD PRIM 22958-A Part Number WSC-CH0-CW 7-5 www.te.com/TelecomNetworks 1-800-366-3891 x73000 Fax: 1-952-917-3237 4/14 315802AE Connectivity Solutions for Distributed Antenna Systems CWDM Chassis & Modules The maximum length of the optical links is dependent on the loss specifications of the optical fiber and the losses imposed by the various connectors and splices. The system provides an optical budget of 26 dB (typical) when used with 9/125 single-mode fiber. There must be at least 10 dB of optical loss to prevent over-driving and possible damage to the optical receiver. The optical wavelengths used in the Prism CWDM system are 1471nm, 1491nm, 1511nm, 1531nm, 1551nm, 1571nm, 1591nm and 1611nm. The OADM assembly is installed in the OADM Splice Box which typically resides above or below the Prism unit on a pole or wall; while the Host is connected to a Mux/DeMux that multiplexes the different wavelengths from the transceivers onto a single fiber in the Forward path and de-multiplexes the wavelengths from the Remotes into their respective wavelengths. At the Host there is a CWDM chassis that contains the CWDM Mux/DeMux Units, and at the Remote the CWDM is spliced to the OSP fiber and HMFOC/MPO 8 Fiber cable or Pigtail from the Remote. VAM Chassis Coarse wavelength division multiplexer (CWDM) modules allow for the addition of eight additional signals to be transmitted over a single fiber. This is done by dividing the 1550 nm window into eight 20 nm spaced channels. CWDM electronics require the use of more precise and expensive lasers, but this cost can often be justified by the avoidance of costs associated with installing new fiber cables.
