ENTRY FORM and CONDITIONS
The arid beauty of the Pilbara is visually very striking, so the Care for Hedland Environmental
Association and the Water Corporation are pleased to be holding a photography competition in
association with National Water Week 2012. The week long celebration of water is held on the 21st27th of October and the categories for the photo competition will centre on three broad themes.
The broad categories for the competition are:

Arid landscapes (both natural and designed)

Flora and Fauna (in the natural environment and designed waterwise landscapes/plantings)

Conserving and valuing water in an arid environment (both natural and designed landscapes)
Entries will be displayed at (still to be confirmed) during Water Week, and at the West End Markets in
October. Prizes will be awarded on the Saturday 27th October at 5pm at the market. Any winners not
present at the presentation will be notified by email. Entries will be available for collection at the
conclusion of the market exhibition on Saturday the 27th October or alternatively please include a
suitable stamped self-addressed envelope if you want your print(s) returned by mail.
Entry Deadline
Competition entries must be submitted to the Greening Australia office (18 Wedge St, Port Hedland)
by 5pm Friday 19th October 2012 at the latest. The prints need to be close to A4 in size (this can
vary depending on if it is a landscape or portrait shot), they also need to be mounted on a foam
backing, this can be done at Pilbara Photographic at South Hedland Shopping Centre,

General Conditions of Entry
1. The competition is open to all Pilbara residents and visitors.
2. Entrants must complete a single Entry Form for all their entries.
3. Entrants may submit up to four (4) entries, a maximum of one entry per category. Images must
be taken in the Pilbara.
4. Entrants warrant to the Water Corporation and the Care for Hedland Environmental Association
that: (a) the entered image is an original work of their own authorship; and (b) the entrant is the
owner of the unencumbered copyright in the Work.
5. The Care for Hedland Environmental Association and the Water Corporation reserve the right
to accept or reject entries.
6. Entrants grant the Care for Hedland Environmental Association and the Water Corporation an
irrevocable and non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce and communicate entered image/s by

any means. The Care for Hedland Environmental Association and the Water Corporation
recognise that entrants retain copyright in the Work and may publish or authorise others to
publish the entire Work or any part thereof. The Care for Hedland Environmental Association
and the Water Corporation will ensure that appropriate credit is given to the author of the Work.
There will be no financial or other remuneration for the use of the Work.
7. If entrants do not grant the Care for Hedland Environmental Association and the Water Corporation
an irrevocable and non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce and communicate entered
image/s they must opt out by ticking the box on the entry form.
8. All possible care will be exercised, but no responsibility will be assumed by the Care for
Hedland Environmental Association or the Water Corporation for the loss or damage of entries
in exhibition or in transit.
Print Requirements
1. Images must be A4-format, printed on heavyweight (e.g., 220 to 250 gsm) photographic quality
paper in matte, gloss or semigloss finish. Slides and negatives will not be accepted.
2. Please mount the prints on a foam backing.
3. You are required to submit an entry form, physical print and digital print.
(a) Physical prints delivered (by hand or post) by 19 October 2012 to:
Pip Short, Care for Hedland Environmental Association, Postal Address – PO Box 436,
Port Hedland, 6721. Or deliver to 18 Wedge St, Port Hedland.
Photos should be in a flat package (not rolled in a tube).
(b) Submit an electronic application or a physical application by 19 October 2012, emailed to:
[email protected] or the addresses above.
(c) Submit a digital version of the photograph (in Jpeg or Tiff format, 500Kb to 2Mb in size) by
19 October 2012, emailed to: [email protected]
4. On the Entry Form, give each entry a short title for display and citation purpose, as well as a
descriptive caption giving brief details of the subject.
5. The title of the image, the entrant’s name and email address or phone number must appear on
the back of each print.
