Course Development
Fall 2007: Developed and taught “Biology of RNA” for the first time as 400-level elective. Was
later transitioned to a permanent course, BIOL451.
Curriculum vitae, Michael John Axtell
Updated September 18, 2016
Spring 2012: Developed a new laboratory module for BIOL240W .. a microRNA / plant
nutrition lab delivered to over 500 students.
Spring 2015: Added computational laboratory to BIOL451, teaching basic programming in a
linux environment (perl, R, various bioinformatic tools) and focusing on analysis of RNA-seq
data.
