Energy Super appoints three new General
Managers
Energy Super has appointed three new General Managers to manage its member
engagement, digital communication and strategic direction as part of a restructure at the $6
billion industry super fund.
Experienced professionals Michael Abbott, Phil McCarthy and David Beal have been
appointed to the newly-created roles.
Michael Abbott, General Manager of Strategy, has more than 25 years’ experience in
managerial roles across the finance and superannuation industries. Previously the Group
Strategy Manager at QSuper, Mr Abbott is an expert in leading the strategy development
and delivery of quality advice and financial service platforms.
Mr Abbott’s new role will see him develop a sophisticated financial growth strategy for
Energy Super, to further grow the brand’s existing member base and shape the fund’s future
investments.
Phil McCarthy, General Manager of Member Engagement and Development, has more
than 30 years’ experience working in customer-focused environments across the energy,
finance and superannuation industries.
Previously the Head of Member Services at QSuper, Mr McCarthy’s new role will see him
focus on efficiency, productivity, process improvement and employee development and
engagement, to ensure a seamless customer experience for Energy Super members.
David Beal, General Manager of Digital Transformation & Analytics has more than 15
years’ experience in managing and transforming the digital service delivery for organisations
in the government, not for profit and commercial sectors.
Mr Beal previously worked in several directorial roles for the Queensland Government,
where he implemented strategies to improve the government’s use of technology and digital
channels. His role at Energy Super will see him deliver member-centric business
improvement programs and boost the fund’s digital footprint.
Energy Super CEO Robyn Petrou said the new roles were introduced as part of its recent
internal restructure and would maintain the fund’s commitment to putting its members first.
“Energy Super’s priority is, and always will be, to protect our members’ best interests, and
these new managerial roles will further streamline our existing operations,” she said.
