SBS background
• Supply balance sheets are forwarded to Eurostat
for further use on the basis of a gentlemen's
agreement,
• with the exception of the supply balance sheet
for wine, which is regulated by:
– Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1282/2001 of 28 June
2001 laying down detailed provisions for
implementing Regulation (EC) No. 1493/1999 as
regards the gathering of information to identify wine
products and to monitor the wine market and
amending Regulation (EC) No. 1623/2000.
Future of SBS in the European Union
• Gradual three-step discontinuation of SBS
from 2012 to 2014:
– Cereals, rice, sugar – 2014
– Fats and oils - 2013
– Meat, milk, eggs – 2012
– Other crops – 2012
– Wine – under legal act
