It’s entirelyFeb unacceptable—especially in light of all the 25 and 26 . paperwork that follows a violent incident—that there is almost no useful data or analysis to help us address the issue.” (From an article in entitled Protecting Ourselves at School; Education Forum May 3, 2016) 1 KNOW YOUR CONTRACT -Local Terms, (Part B in the contract) are not affected by the ratification vote. NEW TO THE OT CONTRACT -An OT on the Roster at the start of the school year, must complete and submit the required documentation in the manner required by the Bd by June 30 of each year to be placed on the Roster for the upccoming year [Part B Article 11.04 (b)]. -New applicants for the Roster must submit applications in the manner required by the Bd by Aug 1. -The Bd may consider new applications for the Roster after Aug 1. [Part B Article 11.05]. SECONDARY COVERS AND SUPERVISION UNDER THE PERMANENT TEACHER CONTRACT Some secondary teachers will now be approachng the maximum superrvision and cover time that Admin is entitled to assign. The maximum number of secondary on calls and/or eligible supervision in a school year is 1425 minutes!!!! [38 half periods = 38 x 37.5 minutes = 1425 minutes [Collective Agreement Part B Article 3.14(f)] Any assigned secondary supervsion duty including but not limited to bus duty, hall duty and/or yard duty constitutes supervision/on call time. [Collective Agreement Part B Article 3.14(a)] WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY Safety Reps are reminded that it is a legal obligation to conduct monthly inspection reports.[OHSA 9(6)] These are to be submitted to Admin which, in turn must submit them to the Bd office by the 15th of the month. Employees provided with equipment, protective devices or clothing are required to use/wear them. [OHSA s 28 (1)(b)] If a workplace injury occurs that could have been prevented by using or wearing the same, WSIB is unlikely to apply.
