Where good ideas come to the surface Whitford’s Bakeware Coatings, Explained Fluoropolymer liquids: midcoats and topcoats Xylan XLR 17-353: (Xtra Long-lasting Release). Waterborne dispersion with highest initial and longest-lasting release of all systems. Superb smoothness and gloss, with improved hardness and resistance to permeation. Available in several colours and designed for conventional spray application; should be used over Xylan 17-080 or 17-180 primers. designed for conventional spray application. Xylan 80-178: Solvent-borne primer for use with powder and dispersion topcoats. Facilitates higher film builds. Designed for conventional spray application. Available in a range of colours. Xylan 4018: Solvent-borne primer for use with powder topcoats. Available in a range of colours. Fluoropolymer liquid: single-coat Xylan XLR HB: A high-build version of Xylan XLR that can achieve thicknesses up to 60µm in one baking cycle. Xylan 8840: Solvent-borne, fluoropolymer-based system offering good release characteristics. High-build PFA Dispersion (Xylan 80-610): High-build PFA dispersion providing film builds up to 60 microns. Waterborne coating designed for conventional spray application together with Xylan 80-178 primer. May also be applied over a powder midcoat. A reinforced version is also available. Xylan 80-510: PFA powder designed for electrostatic spray applications. Provides higher temperature capabilities, superior toughness, and higher film build. High-build FEP Dispersion (Xylan 80-650): Waterborne, un-pigmented, high-build FEP dispersion designed for conventional spray application. Can be applied over Xylan 80-178 primer and a standard-build FEP (Xylan 1756) midcoat. May be applied over a powder midcoat. This system can be used when powder is not an option or when the Faraday Cage Effect prevents achieving recommended film build in deeper trays. An attractive sparkle version that improves visibility during application is available too. Xylan 80-030: An electrostatic powder primer with excellent adhesion to various substrates. An efficient and environmentally-friendly option when processed together with fluoropolymer powder topcoats in a single baking step. Fluoropolymer liquids: primers Xylan 17-080: Black waterborne primer for use with Xylan XLR. Xylan 17-180: Black waterborne primer for use with Xylan XLR HB. Xylan 80-018: Solvent-borne primer for use with powder and dispersion systems for high-end applications. Designed for conventional spray application. Available in a range of colours. Xylan 80-087: Black waterborne primer for use with all powder topcoats. Environmentally friendly system Powders Xylan 80-550: An FEP powder topcoat providing thick film builds that result in better release and longer life. Sol-gel (ceramics) Matrix (18-088, 18-089): These systems are used in cases where temperature requirements are high and abrasion resistance is critical. Silicones Xylan 8003: Solvent-borne silicone coating with excellent release and resistance to staining. Easily strippable for recoating. Exteriors Water- and solvent-borne systems available, depending upon the customer requirements. Check with your local Whitford representative for the best options for your project.
