Position Description POSITION TITLE: Game Development Officer ORGANISATION Hockey NSW is the not-for-profit state sporting organisation responsible for the development, governance, promotion and delivery of hockey programs throughout NSW. Hockey NSW is located at the Sydney Olympic Park Hockey Centre. The vision for Hockey NSW is for Hockey to be an accessible game of choice for all ages, stages and abilities. The mission for Hockey NSW is to shape a path for hockey in NSW and by being inclusive innovative thoughtful and responsive, ensure a unified and sustainable future. The key strategic deliverables for Hockey NSW from 2010 to 2014 are to: 1. Attract and retain more people in Hockey 2. Raise Hockey’s profile 3. Develop a structure that allows associations and clubs to develop and thrive 4. Develop a broader income base 5. Develop an event structure that grows the game 6. Achieve high performance success 7. Deliver quality governance and operational frameworks. POSITION OUTLINE 1. Primary Objective The primary objective of this role is to create and implement development programs to enhance recruitment and retention activities for players, and officials in the Region. This is primarily a development role that involves the coordination and delivery of a variety of programs to retain and recruit players and officials 2. Reporting relationship The position reports to the Game Development Manager of Hockey NSW. 3. Key Responsibilities (These should add up to 100%) Approximate % of time spent on this activity over a one year period Responsibility Delivery and Coordination of Hockey NSW Game Development Programs for the Region Coordinate and Deliver School Participation Clinics Develop and implement strategies to increase participation Liaise with other Game Development Officers across NSW to exchange ideas and discuss important developments 70% Delivery and Coordination of Hook in2 Hockey clinics / camps for the Region Oversee the administration of Hook in2 Hockey for the Region Coordinate the delivery of Hook in2 Hockey holiday camps Train and recruit suitable coaches to assist with the delivery of holiday camps Delivery of the holiday camps 15% Coordination of HockeyEd for Region Coordinate the delivery of HockyEd for the Region Oversee the administration of HockeyEd for the Region Delivery of / Assist with the Delivery of HockeyEd for the Region (Dependant on Qualifications) 5% Administration and Coordination of all Game Development Activities for Region Research recruitment and attrition trends Monitor, evaluate, redesign and report on metropolitan club and regional association trends Keep abreast in other areas of sport 5% Other Attend such meetings for HNSW as are necessary to undertake these duties as directed in the Region Undertake such duties as directed by the Game Development Manager from time to time Comply with Organisational Policies and Procedures Submit a monthly report consistent with the Hockey NSW Game Development reporting template 5% Hockey NSW Position Description 2010 Page 2 of 4 Position Description 5. Discretion: The position of Game Development Officer requires the candidate to use a certain amount of personal discretion in coordinating their calendar of activities with a Hockey NSW Position Description 2010 Page 3 of 4 Position Description strong emphasis on the following areas: - Determining the strategy for achieving performance targets. - Formulating strategy for communication and advertisement SELECTION CRITERIA Knowledge and Qualifications Strong understanding of Hockey Development Pathway in Region A working knowledge of the sport coordination and delivery HockeyEd “Beginner Coach” Accreditation Senior First Aid Skills Highly developed networking and consulting skills to gather support from colleagues and to gather market information to bring to fruition business development opportunities Demonstrated ability to improve recruitment and retention in a sporting environment. Effective interpersonal skills (including ability to influence) with all levels and ages of hockey participants, volunteers and administrators Ability to work in a team environment Competent in Office Software Ability to consider long-term strategies and their value and effectiveness A strong work ethic with a demonstrated preparedness to work to achieve HNSW goals. Other Requirements As a member of Hockey NSW staff the Game Development Officer will display characteristics such as reliability, punctuality and courtesy, and be self-motivated and well presented at all times when representing Hockey NSW. Working hours will be dictated by the Game Development Officer to fit into their schedule. Some weeknight and weekend work may be required from time to time and this is up to the Game Development Officer to manage their individual hours. Over time will not be paid in this position. In accordance with Child Protection legislation all candidates will be required to complete and sign a Prohibited Employment Declaration Form and a Working With Children Consent Form.
