Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization
founded in 1913 whose purpose is to provide assistance and support
through established programs in local communities throughout the world.
A sisterhood of more than 250,000 predominately African-American college
educated women, Delta Sigma Theta provides a variety of community
services through its Five-Point Programmatic Thrusts of Economic
Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and
Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and
Involvement. The Henry County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta
Sorority, Inc., sponsors educational development initiatives, economic
development seminars and workshops, as well as physical and mental
health forums, which are designed to directly impact the Henry County
Community in a positive way. Since our chapter’s inception, we have
awarded more than $92,000 in scholarships to high school seniors in the
Henry County area.
In an effort to encourage our youth to reach their highest level of academic
achievement and be Drug, Alcohol, and Tobacco free, the Henry County
Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presents the 2016
Stomp D.A.T (Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco) Youth Step Show. The eleventh
annual event will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016. The host facility is
Woodland High School located at 800 N. Moseley Drive in Stockbridge,
Georgia.
The project’s goal is to empower Parents and Students with information
and guidance on being drug and alcohol free. The step show will provide
age-appropriate information to our youth and participants in an effort to
further encourage their progression of being drug free, achieving higher
education, and academics. The step show also brings awareness of the
effects of drugs, alcohol and tobacco abuse while using the art of stepping
to rally those who have made the pledge to be “D.A.T. Free”. The event will
feature youth step teams from the metropolitan Atlanta area.
