Round two of the autumn basketball season was played on Sunday

Round two of the autumn basketball season was played on Sunday and Monday
with the Club’s teams once again performing strongly. Unfortunately our Under 8
Girls missed out on a game again this week and I would once again like to urge any
boy or girl who would like to play this great game to contact Jenny Powell on
80874754 and place your name down to play in a team.
Alternatively they could attend the junior trainings on Sunday morning for all under
eight and under ten players being run by Anthony “H” Harman. “H” and his helpers
are running a great program and I would encourage all the kids to get their friends
together and come along.
Well done to the Under 8 Boys Titans team. It was the first game for all of these
players against a more experienced Scorpions team. All the boys had the confidence to get in and get the ball and have a dribble. Well done to Jaden McKay,
Caleb McKay, Taej Baxter, Declan Carter and Kennith Lohmann, and we really
hope you enjoy your basketball for years to come.
Our Under 10 Girls Vines Chargers team took to the court for the first time this
season after their opening round one bye and played very well against Sparkles.
Chloe Berg and Ava Slattery played very well and a special mention must go to Isabella Trengove on the way she played after coming up from the under 8 grade.
Good work girls, keep it up!
In Under 10 Boys the young Titans played a fantastic game, sharing the ball
around and working as a real team. Thank you to Jonty Campbell for filling in for
the other team allowing a game to be played. Best Players were Cooper Bourke,
Lachlan Turley, Casey Ferguson & Jackson Savage.
Also in the Under 10 Boys grade our CMC Titans played extremely well in their
game against Wizards. This was their first game in this grade since rising from under 8’s and they can be very happy with the style of game they played. Harry
Butcher and Adam Slattery both performed strongly in a good team effort.
In Under 12 Girls South Chargers played another strong team game and all players were part of a great win against Shooting Stars. Elyscia Mackiewicz
was again in outstanding form and this must be a pleasing sight for Broncos coach
Jay Tonkin to see in the lead up to Country Carnival next weekend. Sammarah
Edge has improved dramatically over the last twelve months and is proving to be a
huge offensive threat.

Titan’s Under 12 Boys side played their club mates and young guns the Titan
Flames. As predicted Titans proved to be too strong for the younger Flames combination . Harry Trengove, Kingsley Hocking and Declan Ferguson played well for the
experienced Titans team. Titan Flames put up a great effort and can be proud of
the way they approached the game and I am sure by the end of the season this
team will have improved greatly. Cody Meehan, Aiden Slattery and Jagan Baxter
were the best players tor Titan Flames.
Titans, also hitting the court for the first time this season, played J.B.B’z in the
Under 14 Boys grade and ran out winners. With several players missing owing to
swimming commitments I would like to thank the under 12 Titan boys for filling in.
Brothers Sage and Kingsley Hocking, Paddric Attard and Tyler McKenzie played
well for Titans. Great first up performance boys!
Premier Chargers had the bye in WD Grade this week.
Outback Chargers were struck with injuries to key players this week but still
managed to put up a competitive effort against last years A grade finalists,
The Recruits.
It was pleasing to see Christy McManus return to the game after her holidays and I
am sure she will find form in the next week or two and team up in the back court
with Lisa Kickett and Chelsea Masclett.
As the old saying goes “as the game goes on the tall players don’t get any shorter”
proved to be oh so true as our girls struggled for rebounds at both end of the court.
Our runners tried to keep the team in the game but with Teigan Howarth playing a
lone hand in the tall department it was always going to be a hard task. Chelsea
Masclett top scored with nine points and Teigan Howarth, Tarnee Tester and Lisa
Kickett all chipping in with six points each but in the end this wasn’t enough with
Recruits running out victors by 10 points.
I would like to conclude by thanking all the parents that stood into the coaching role
for the games on the weekend. You all did a great job and your efforts are appreciated greatly.
