DNS (Domain Name System)
Why DNS?
Would you rather remember?
http://64.233.167.99
Or Google.com
DNS: Domains
The domain is just the first piece of the
puzzle, it is the core of your URL
(Uniform Resource Locator).
DNS: Registry
The Registry holds information for
where to find the best information
about how to find the server with
which the domain name is
associated. This information is
maintained in the Primary DNS
Server.
DNS: DNS Server
When you enter a domain name in your
browser it sends a request to a DNS
Server that uses the DNS Registry to
get the IP (Internet Protocol)
Address of the server associated
with the domain name from the
Primary DNS Server.
DNS: Web Server
The URL information is then requested
from the Web Server which checks
if it is available.
If it is available, the information is
returned to your web browser and
displayed.
DNS: Unconfigured
If the Primary DNS Server information is not configured, or is incorrect,
the browser will not get the information it needs to find the correct
web page and you will probably see an error message.
Common Web Browser Errors
Error Codes:

Unauthorized 401
 The parameter to this message gives a specification of
authorization schemes which are acceptable. The client should
retry the request with a suitable Authorization header.

Forbidden 403
 The request is for something forbidden. Authorization will not
help.

Not found 404
 The server has not found anything matching the URI given

Internal Error 500
 The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented
it from fulfilling the request.
Site Search
Search is beginning to replace static site navigation.
Replace frustrating 404 errors with more useful possibilities.

Wordpress CMS
We are currently evaluating several possibilities that will allow us to offer
next generation sites with integrated Content Management Systems
(CMS).
One of those possibilities is a package called “Wordpress”.
Creation and modification of traditional pages and modern Blog type
pages suitable for displaying frequently updated news or
announcement information.
Integrated RSS (Rich Site Summary / Really Simple Syndication) methods
allow users to subscribe to easily monitor your content.
