Dear Colleague,
Following my recent email announcing our new UCD HR strategy - Growing through People, I am
pleased to inform you that we will launch in the autumn a regular survey to get your views on a
wide-range of topics that affect your role and working environment in UCD. This survey of faculty
and staff will be your opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings about working for this
university, as well as an opportunity to help us identify areas that we can improve and represents
the first time a survey of this nature has been carried out in over 10 years.
It is only with your support that this initiative can work and I am writing now to invite you to
contribute to the survey design process. Over the summer, focus groups will be asked to meet with
experts from Willis Towers Watson, an independent survey research firm who are managing this
survey process to ensure that all responses are confidential and only anonymised data is shared with
UCD. If you are asked to join a focus group I encourage you to participate, as we need you input.
If you are not asked to participate in a focus group you can volunteer or send us your views to
inform the survey design. The broad themes we are considering include; Culture and Values;
Working Environment; Career Progression and Development; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion;
Communications; Employee Engagement; Managing Change; Pay and Benefits; Job Satisfaction,
Work Pressure and Autonomy.
