Purdue University | Department of Entomology | West Lafayette, IN
 Performed research assessing chemical communication between pharmacophagous tiger moth species and their host plants, to
generate chemical profiles for each species.
 Became familiar with the preparation of samples for GC-MS analysis and proper molecular lab maintenance habits.
Smithsonian Summer Intern

United States National Museum of Natural History | SI Entomology | Washington, D.C.
 Aided in the databasing of the subfamily Baridinae and verified the correct nomenclature for the organization of the
collection.
 Gained valuable experience in procedures used in the data management and the digitization of large collections.
Curatorial Assistant
Purdue University | Entomological Research Collection | West Lafayette, IN



Aug 2013- Dec 2014
Provided assistance with specimen level database entry, curation of insect specimens, general organization of the
collection, and the preparation and proper handling of loans.
Completed the organization and cataloguing of literature within the collection.
Scanned museum loan paperwork for digital archive.
Lab Technician
Summer and winter 2012
University of Maine | School of Biology and Ecology | Orono, ME
 Performed daily laboratory maintenance, assisted with the implantation, continuation, and data capture of insect assays
evaluating the success of nematodes, fungus, and insecticides on controlling Myrmica rubra.
 Assembled and performed different field trapping techniques to monitor the population densities of Myrmica rubra and nontarget species in Acadia National Park. Performed field trails testing the success of control methods seen as efficient in a
laboratory environment. Complete processing of field samples collected in the field.
 Assisted with field experiments monitoring the behavior of Cerceris fumipennis and collection of pupae.
 Provided assistance with collection, processing, and recording data on Varroa mites within hives of Apis mellifera. Obtained
skills in building honey frames for hives.
