Water Interruption May 31, 2017 Late this evening (May 30), the contractor notified that the Town that it needs to close Water Street on Wednesday morning, May 31, between Stannus and Gerrish Streets. It is anticipated that street to be closed most of the day. Traffic will still be able to travel west bound (towards the lake) on Gerrish Street and turn right onto Water Street. Traffic will not be traveling eastbound on (up) Gerrish Street (Water to Gray). The driveway into Avonian Place will remain open. The first access into the Windsor Waterfront Mall (by Avonian Place) will also be accessible for people needing to get to work or shopping at the Mall. Why is this being done…to keep motorists, bystanders and workers safe. The placement of the underground infrastructure requires that the contractors have enough room to dig a trench that is safe and “legal”. Flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic and assist bystanders/pedestrians. As you know there were some unplanned water interruptions on Monday (May 29), with the work that took place (is taking place) at Victoria Lane. Those businesses that experienced water discoloration, reduced pressure or loss of water on Monday, will more than likely lose water service on Wednesday afternoon, May 31, from noon till 5 pm. We anticipate that only those businesses/properties on the east side of Water Street, from Gerrish to Stannus, will be affected. The Town will continue to send notices out via email and the Town’s website will be updated in the morning. Any concerns please email me or call me at 902-798-1708. The Town apologizes for the last minute notice, but as promised, as soon as the Town has an update…so will you.
