DENVER BRONCOS 2016 NFL DRAFT PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN ADAM GOTSIS (4/30/15)
BRONCOS DEFENSIVE LINE COACH BILL KOLLAR
“We are happy to get Adam Gotsis from Georgia Tech in the draft. Watching film on him, he is the type of player we like.
He plays hard, runs to the ball, has some pass rush ability that we are happy about. When we met him at the combine and
found out what type of guy he is, we really liked him. He is a gym rat type of guy that just wants to play football. He is going
to work out all the time. He is going to do whatever he can do to get as good as he can get and that is what you really want.
You need guys that really live and breathe football and that is what we have got with Adam.”
BRONCOS DL ADAM GOTSIS (Rd. 2, No. 63)
On his first impression of meeting Defensive Line Coach Bill Kollar
“I have heard about coach Kollar’s reputation from numerous people. I think our first conversation he blasted me a little bit and
that’s what I wanted. He said I played with great effort and I have a great motor. He also said looking at your film you have a lot
to improve on. I can’t wait to play for him.”
On the transition from Australia to his first year at Georgia Tech
“It was a great experience. Things went really quick, I had great people around me, the whole staff at Georgia Tech, the players
in the locker room. The faster you can become part of the culture the easier things get. I plan on doing the same thing here
becoming a part of the culture here with the Broncos and see where it takes me. You can come and bring what you bring to the
table and hope that fits into their culture.”
On how long he has played American Football
“I played organized American Football for three or four years before coming over to the states. It has been about seven years
total now. I have been playing Australian Rules Football since I was six or seven years old until I was 18 years old. Twelve years of
playing with multiple teams. They are both completely different sport, but they have similarities and its carrying over from every
sport and making the most of it.”
On who he was with when he got the call that he was drafted
“I was with my brother and two sisters and a couple close friends I played with at Georgia Tech. We were sitting there watching
and waiting. I was waiting on that opportunity and it didn’t matter where it was. I was so happy to see the phone ring and
everybody was so happy for me. It was a memorable moment that I will never forget.”
On if endurance of Australian Rules Football will help him in the NFL
“It definitely helps. You go from running eight miles a game, 10 miles a game continuously playing with bursts to coming here to
a lot of bursts and explosiveness but your body is used to recovering quickly. It is a little bit of different stuff because it is 10

seconds on, 30 seconds off, 10 seconds on, 30 seconds off that’s the way you develop and train your body is natural for me. I feel
like I can go out there and play all day and don’t fatigue.”
On being able to focus on football full time
“I felt like it was pretty much my natural instinct to play the game and I think my film showed that my first two years. As I started
to learn the game more and develop more into a football player, rather than a raw athlete out there I took my game to the next
level. Coming here and playing for Coach Kollar and Coach [Defensive Coordinator Wade] Phillips, it’s going to be an awesome
experience. They are going to teach me even more stuff. I am just ready to get in there and start learning.”
On his upside playing football and whether he can punt
“Once my ACL is healed I will definitely try out for punter as well (laughing). I think I have a lot of potential upside. I don’t think
you can put it on a curve because I don’t know where that curve ends. I am still on my rise and I think my ceiling is endless at the
moment and that is the way it has to be. I’ve got a lot of learning to do because I am not where I need to be. There is a lot of
development still to go and it is going to be a process. Getting here and learn the defense, getting the culture, get in the locker
room, start picking guys brains and get to work.”
On who he emulates his game after
“I don’t really have a set model since I came from playing Australian Rules Football. I like high motor guys like [Texans DE] J.J.
Watt. The guys that can play in-and-out, that can play the three-technique or the five-technique or go into the two-technique or
a shade. There are numerous guys, there are a couple guys in this locker room like [DE] Derek Wolfe, guys that play multiple
positions along the front that are so versatile.
On if he prefers INXS or AC/DC
“I am a big AC/DC fan. My mom got them to play at her high school back in Australia, so it was a small world.”
On playing defensive line instead of offensive line
“I was initially trying to get recruited as an offensive tackle. My coach back home was trying to get me to play offensive tackle
and triple option and being that athletic. When I came over they had a lot of offensive linemen. They only had six returning
defensive linemen so we are going to start you over there and the rest was just history. No matter where they put me I was
going to do my job every time. That was just my mentality and it paid off for me.”
On work visa situation
“Once I get a contract and offer of employment it goes with me applying for a work visa.”
