Why dry? Dry running pumps have no oil, steam or water in the process volume. Each stage comprises of two claw shaped rotors on parallel shafts, which rotate in opposite directions. The claws trap and compress the process gas, which takes a zig-zag path between the stages, as it is moved along the axis of the shaft from the inlet at the top to the exhaust at the bottom.
