THE SOCCER PARENTS FAIR PLAY CODES 1. Encourage your child to play by the rules of the game and exhibit good sportsmanship. 2. Show your appreciation of volunteer coaches and officials. 3. Teach your children to respect decisions by officials. 4. Never ridicule or yell at your child for making a mistake. 5. Teach your child that an honest effort is as important as winning. 6. Be lavish with praise when your child learns a new skill and practices fair play. 7. As spectators, applaud all good plays - both your teams and the opponent’s team. 8. Actions speak louder than words – let your behaviour set a good example for your child. 9. Remember that children play for THEIR fun and enjoyment, not ours! THE SOCCER COACHES FAIR PLAY CODES 1. Teach your players to play fair and practice good sportsmanship 2. Allow all players equal time on the field, each and every game 3. Teach your players to respect the opposing team and the judgment of officials 4. Never yell at or ridicule players for making mistakes or for losing 5. Be generous with praise and encourage team spirit and enthusiasm for the game 6. Turn defeat into victory by emphasizing the value of honest effort, skills improvement and fair play 7.
