Time is the one resource that we can't buy, but we often waste it or use it
ineffectively. To use it in an effective way; scheduling is the art of planning
your activities so that you can achieve your goals and priorities in the time
you have available
it helps you:
*Understand what you can realistically achieve with your time.
*Make sure you have enough time for essential tasks.
*Add contingency time for "the unexpected."
*Avoid taking on more than you can handle.
*Work steadily toward your personal and career goals.
*Have enough time for family and friends, exercise and hobbies.
*Achieve a good work-life balance.
HOW TO SCHEDULE YOUR TIME
Set a regular time to do your scheduling – at the start of every week or month, for example.
There are a number of different tools to choose from. A simple and easy way to keep a schedule
is to use a pen and paper, organizing your time using a weekly planner.
You can also use apps and software such as Google Calendar®, MS Outlook®
Step 1: Identify Available Time:
STEPS
Start by establishing the time you want to make available for your work.
How much time you spend on which activity? How reflection will be, will it be effective for your
aims in that activity ?
Step 2: Schedule Essential Actions
Next, block in the actions you absolutely must take to do a good job. These will often be the
things you are assessed against.
For example, if you manage children, make sure that you have enough time available to deal
with their special issues and coaching, needs.
Step 3: Schedule High-Priority Activities
Review your To-Do List , and schedule in high-priority and urgent activities, as well as essential
maintenance tasks that cannot be delegated or avoided.
Step 4: Schedule Contingency Time
Step 5: Analyze Your Activities
HOW TO USE AND ESTABLISH NETWORKS
In our increasingly connected society, building a social media presence is as
commonplace as getting a driver’s license. Whether you manage project or business,
social media can help you increase your visibility, number of participants and mindset.
How to do it ?
1. Choose the right platforms and practices
2. Set goals for your social media use
1.CHOOSE THE RIGHT PLATFORMS AND PRACTICES
Maximizing your social media use means choosing those platforms and practices that
suit your core project strategy. For instance, it may or may not make sense for your
project to update its Twitter account every hour; what works for another project may not
have the same effects for yours.
One strategy could be to first determine which platforms your target group and leads
use, and then build your social media presence with those outlets in mind so as to
achieve predetermined and measurable business objectives. For example, if your
project aims disabilities, that will make more sense to use Facebook groups rather than
using twitter page.
2. SET GOALS FOR YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA USE
The location, purpose, and size of your business will naturally affect your social media
goals.
We use social media to;
•
Increase project credibility
•
Demonstrate a corporate identity and culture that makes people more likely to
want to being participant or working as a volunteer.
•
Increase the quantity of feedback that they receive from participants and leads.
3. TAKE A SYSTEMIZED APPROACH TO CONTEN
Once you decide which social media outlets best fit your business
strategy, you should develop a comprehensive plan for the content you
will be posting.
A systemized approach is key when developing your content plan,
as this will allow you to maintain organization and consistency when
sharing across your various social channels.
Try to determine how frequently you will post, how you will
quantify the results of your postings, and how you will attain maximum
reach with your strategy.
