UPDATE:
Fr Eamonn opened the meeting with a prayer.
He informed the committee that main work on the ceiling inside the church would start after
Easter. This may mean having to transfer First Holy Communion to the school. There are four
companies interested in quoting for the work inside the church.
The drains have to be raised on the car park before 15 March 2017. It is not clear whether the
Diocese or Yorkshire Water are responsible for the work on the drains.
The old school was scheduled to be put up for sale September 2016 and Kirklees state that
this should now, five months later, go ahead. It is anticipated that the proceeds for the sale
may realise £400,000 which would belong to St Mary’s Parish.
JR who helps with the counting stated that over the last 12 months since our first fundraising
event, the Jade Helliwell concert, the Roof Committee functions had raised approximately
£16,000 Added to that our events have helped to increase social activity within the Parish and
the community. She also advised us that the Parish as a whole have collected £60,000. JW
stated that now he has this information he could now produce a display board showing the
parishioners how much had been raised and how much more money is needed to reach our
goal.
