Summary
Cost of goods (COGS) for Avianx and Zink is stored in a master data services table called “AvianX-Zink-Costs”.
TARGIT and the P&L integration processes make use of this to determine gross margin. This is only used in
two instances:
1. AvianX/Zink stuff shipped in WGI
2. Quickbooks. The cost is not correct in Quickbooks.
See Appendix A for instructions on how access master data services.
Using MDS from End User Perspective
1. Open Excel. Select “Master Data”
2. Select Connect (see “SETUP”)
3. Select “Model”. Select “Version”. “Select “Avianx-Zink Cost”
4. Load Records
When linking COGS TARGIT attempts to link in the following order:
a. Model (Dim_Item.Model). Used by Quickbooks *
b. TARGIT Model (Dim_Item.Model). Used by Quickbooks *
c. Item_Number (Fact_Sales.Third_Item_Number ). Used by AvianX that was shipped from WGI
*Quickbooks data exported using a Quickbook API. That API sometimes doesn’t parse out the item
number very well. TARGIT Model is really a reference to how to looks from API.

Testing the Effects of Changes
Two SSRS Reports were created to allow the user to test the effects of changes to the COGS.
1. AvianX-Zink COGS MDS Checker by Item
http://psdwprod01/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx?ItemPath=%2fAVIAN-ZINK&ViewMode=List
Left side is the COGS currently. Right Side is the New COGS
2. AvianX-Zink COGS Checker
Very similar to the report above just aggregated at higher level.

Exporting data from TARGIT
Ideally TARGIT should be used to determine the cost of goods calculation that used to submit P&L data to
JDE. All dashboards are stored in “Shared / 2.5.0 Accounting & Finance /Quickbooks.
1. QuickBooks P&L Calculation
Formats all data in a way that makes it P&L upload ready.
2. Quickbooks Validation
- Quick dashboard to compare Quickbooks records to TARGIT data.
Table Structure
Cost of Goods information is stored in an MDS data table.
