Role Profile/Job Description Position: Head Coach Responsible to the St Andrews LTC Committee St Andrews Tennis Club has a long term commitment to the development of tennis and has retained a Full Time Coach since 1991. The Head Coach is responsible for developing & overseeing the Club’s coaching programme for juniors and adults. As the principal interface between the Club Committee and club members and potential members, the Head Coach is also expected to contribute and shape the development of the Club in line with the Committee’s Mission and FiveYear Plan. The Club’s Vision is to become the preeminent tennis club in Scotland in terms of membership participation; facilities; performance player development; social activities and coaching with a long term goal to establish St Andrews as a regional centre of excellence for tennis. Main Duties o To take full responsibility for the club’s junior coaching programme o To take full responsibility for the club’s adult coaching programme o To ensure effective progression of talented players, from the club development programme and local schools, in partnership with the LTA county office o To ensure effective and regular liaison with relevant LTA staff o To work with, and include, assistant coaches in the preparation and running of their sessions o To attend junior club meetings and report on progress o To offer club feedback on the organisation and the degree of success of junior coaching and competitions o To foster and develop the already established links with local schools (primary & secondary) and initiate, lead or support junior recruitment initiatives o To assist Team Captains in the selection of teams o To travel to competitions with the junior team(s) and on occasions with performance players o Assist in organising club and open tournaments and tennis events for all club members o To work with the committee in the furtherance of their aims for the club Skills, Knowledge & Experience o o o o o Qualified Coach (DCA, CCA, PCA or TDA) as well as holding an LTA coach licence Experience of setting up and delivering quality tennis development programmes Excellent communication skills Computer skills People management experience
