Leader
The Independent Living Assistant will support
the Independent Living Co-ordinators to
provide a high quality housing management
and support service to older people living in
Stockport Homes sheltered accommodation.
You will provide cover for the Independent
Living Co-ordinators and arrange outings,
events, activities and entertainment in
conjunction with tenants to maintain a
relaxed,
friendly
and
participatory
environment.
You will identify and introduce new and
innovative activities within the wider
community appropriate to the needs of all
tenants.
You will work in conjunction with other
members of the Adaptations and Older
Persons Support Team, internal departments
and external agencies to support customers to
promote and maintain their independence.

RESPONSIBILITIES the Independent Living Assistant will…
 Ensure a varied programme of activities suitable
for older people who live within all Stockport
Homes properties
 Provide flexible support and cover for
colleagues in times of absence to include
assisting with viewings and lettings.
 Work in accordance with service standards,
policies and procedures to achieve
objectives and outcomes for customers.
 Ensure that all the records are maintained
accurately and securely and that strict
confidentiality is maintained in line with
data protection legislation.
 Ensure the security and safety of the
premises and customers; responding
appropriately to activations of the
emergency call and fire alarm systems and
undertaking regular health and safety and
security checks.
 Work in partnership and effectively with all
Independent Living Co-ordinators, Assistants
and the Older Persons Activities Coordinator when planning events or liaising
with tenants.
 Contribute positively to team meetings, the
collaborative development of services and
learning and development.
 Actively encourage tenants participation in social
activities both within Sheltered Housing and
Extra Care schemes and within the community
promoting inter-scheme activities where possible

 In conjunction with the Volunteer Coordinator and Customer Involvement team

and provide appropriate programmes of
activities.
